Dallas' Mark Cuban recruits AI firm for student technology bootcamp

The Dallas-based Mark Cuban Foundation has forged a partnership to help provide technology education to deserving students.

The Foundation — a private nonprofit led by entrepreneur Mark Cuban — has partnered with Turbo AI, a venture-backed education technology platform, who will bring their methods of taking traditional learning materials and transforming them into interactive study resources such as flashcards and quizzes to the Foundation's annual AI Bootcamp for high school students and teachers.

Since 2019, the Foundation has hosted free artificial intelligence bootcamps across the U.S., reaching students through intensive 20-hour programs that teach both practical skills and ethical considerations of technology.

The bootcamps take place over three consecutive Saturdays, when underserved high school students learn what AI is and isn't, where they've already interact with AI, the ethical implications of AI systems, and more.

The 2025 AI Bootcamp program will reach students across 29 cities, prioritizing underserved and underrepresented populations, including girls, students of color, first-generation college students, and those from low-to-moderate income backgrounds. The partnership with Turbo AI ensures these participants have access to the same advanced learning tools used by students at top universities and institutions.

Turbo AI will provide premium subscriptions to 700 students enrolled in the Foundation's AI Bootcamps, plus hundreds of educators who are participating in the Teacher Fellowship and Teacher Bootcamp programs.

For many participants, this represents their first experience with advanced learning technology designed specifically for educational purposes. Students attending the bootcamp sessions can capture and process complex concepts related to machine learning, ethics, and application development. Meanwhile, educators gain experience integrating technology tools into their teaching methods.

“As AI continues to become an undeniable force in all of our lives, it’s crucial that we open the door to this knowledge, especially to young people who want to explore it,” Cuban says in a release. “While technology expands and becomes more advanced, it becomes more critical that we ensure our students are prepared when they apply for schools or jobs in the future. Thanks to our work with Turbo AI, the bootcamp will offer an avenue to explore this fascinating field of technology to any student, no matter their means.”

Participating teachers will also benefit from direct experience with practical technology applications by learning to incorporate these tools into their classrooms, extending the impact beyond individual students to entire school communities.

The partnership supports the Mark Cuban Foundation's mission to democratize access to technology education for students who traditionally lack such opportunities.

High school students in grades 9-12 can apply for the free bootcamp until September 30, 2025, at markcubanai.org.
