A new condominium building called the Drake at White Rock Lake is being plotted for a patch of land at La Vista and East Grand roads, where residents will have access to views of the lake, Tenison Park, and possibly downtown Dallas.
The building is at 7540 Coronado Ave., just south of the lake and almost walking distance to the White Rock branch of Cane Rosso, which alone seems worth the price of a unit. In fact, the release lists the Neapolitan-style pizzeria with wood-fire pies as being 0.4 miles away. It's a similar distance to the Starbucks and Tom Thumb, which are also important amenities.
The building will be a mid-rise with seven stories, with a terraced elevation that compliments the streetscape, expansive windows, and balconies. On-site amenities will include an elevated saltwater pool and deck, fitness and cardio center, and a staffed reception desk.
The intersecting multifloor design comes from the balance and beauty of Phi: The Golden Ratio. The architects were challenged by the owners to incorporate this balance to provide an appealing impact on the surrounding environment.
The building is by GDA Architects whose expertise in condominium and high-rise living includes local projects such as Windrose Tower, The Vendome, Residences at the Stoneleigh, Museum Tower, Cirque, 1900 McKinney, 1400 Hi Line, the Heights at Park Lane and The Ashton.
In addition to its proximity to White Rock Lake, the Drake is also adjacent to the Santa Fe Trail, which means that residents could theoretically ride their bicycles to Deep Ellum.
There will be 90 to 100 single-story condominiums, with one, two, and three bedrooms starting at $290,000 and topping out at $750,000. Sales are by Al Coker & Associates.
