Fit and Fun
Dallasites can find their fit at this unique neighborhood community
If the popular apartment community The Village goes above and beyond with everything else, why would working out be any different? The stellar fitness offerings run the gamut from state-of-the-art facilities to tranquil trails, fun group classes to one-on-one training — all without ever leaving the neighborhood.
It all starts with the new fitness center, The Village Fit. Residents claim exclusive and free membership to this fancy facility, which is within walking distance of the community at the corner of Caruth and Greenville avenues.
There, along with the expected cardio and weights, you'll spot items that are not normally found at apartment gyms: plyometric-style training equipment, a tire flipping machine, an Air Runner, punching bags, and a customizable Olympic lifting platform and squat rack.
The concierge offers a friendly greeting when you arrive at the 10,000-square-foot facility, which combines indoor and outdoor space (check out the 3,000-square-foot turfed area outside, where group fitness classes are held when not in the studio). A colorful wall mural serves as the ideal background for documenting your workout on Instagram.
The Fit calendar is updated each month with classes that range from yoga and pilates to barre and Zumba. Special pop-up classes also appear from time to time, and residents clamor to take part in the silent disco, one-off dance classes, and meditation workshops.
Clean up in the classy and clean locker rooms, then head to the Afterglow room. Outfitted with a ping pong table and multiple hangout spots, it's a relaxing space to come down from a great workout. The fridge is even stocked with healthy snacks and meals prepared by The Village Culinary Lab, and local vendors often swing by with free samples.
Also nearby at The Den, The Village's main hub, are bocce ball and corn hole setups, which we think totally counts as low-impact cardio.
Need to be one with nature while you work out? Enjoy easy access to miles of running, hiking, and cycling trails, which weave past the lakes and creeks found throughout The Village's 307 landscaped acres. You're sure to bump into other residents who are up early for a run or unwinding with a walk after work, or you can join one of the many free resident clubs and find your new favorite training partner.
