Renovated in Richardson
Move-in ready home proves you can live well in Dallas for around $200,000
A new listing in Richardson suggests that $200,000 can buy something renovated and move-in ready in the greater Dallas area, and you don't have to stray too far away from the city center to get it. The home at 1500 Stoneham Place has all of the features a family could want, and the price tag is just $217,875 — a curiously odd number, but a refreshing one nonetheless.
This place has curb appeal, thanks to an expansive front porch and an American flag that waves you inside. The house sits on a large lot on a cul de sac, which not only ensures privacy, but also provides plenty of outdoor space for little ones — humans or otherwise — to run around when the weather cooperates.
Inside you'll find hand-scraped floors throughout the main living areas, up the stairs and into all four bedrooms —the home's most stunning design feature. More warmth comes from a living room fireplace, but the space doesn't feel cramped, thanks to vaulted ceilings. A second living area also works as a home office or study.
The upgrades don't stop at the floors. All bathrooms — two full and one half — have upgraded solid-surface countertops and tilework. The kitchen boasts stainless-steel appliances, quartz counters and new backsplash, plus it's big enough for a breakfast area. The kitchen flows seamlessly into the dining room, which has a big picture window looking out onto the backyard.
The location has its perks: in Richardson ISD, near Yale Elementary, and within walking distance of paved walking trails, which lead to Richardson's Lookout Park and Sherrill Park Golf Park, says Greg Carrera of Ebby Halliday's Shelly Seltzer Group. It's also in proximity to a new Whole Foods Market coming in 2015 — more of those "long-term, location-specific advantages," Carrera remarks. Plus property values should continue to rise in this amenity-rich neighborhood.
All this within a 20-minute drive to downtown, which makes a little commute totally worth it.
