“It’s a great place for those who prefer a more relaxed lifestyle with a small-town vibe — not to mention amazing Texas sunsets over the lake, “ says Tonoli. “It’s such a picturesque setting with hills for outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Plus, the lower cost of living, compared to Dallas proper, generally translates to a more enriched life.”
A super-walkable Historic Downtown delivers tons of charm alongside a variety of locally owned shops and restaurants.
Families also appreciate the exemplary Rockwall ISD — and their sports programs.
“The high schools compete at the 6A level for football and play home games at the impressive Wilkerson Memorial Stadium, while the incredible Rockwall Aquatic Center is home to both schools for swimming and water polo," says Tonoli. The Rockwall men’s gymnastics were even recent state champs!

Where to eat & drink
There is a wealth of incredible restaurant choices in Rockwall, says Tonoli. She identifies Culpepper Cattle Co. and The Oar House as two of the most iconic Rockwall dining spots.
Zanata is another favorite for locals and visitors alike, where “the aroma of the genuine wood-burning ovens will pull you in, and the quality Mediterranean food and atmosphere will bring you back!”
If you love a hidden gem, seek out The Downing Bottles & Bites; but it may not be hidden for long, as it’s earning quite the reputation with its wine market, wine bar, and savory charcuterie boards.
Tonoli also recommends Book Club Café for one of the best breakfasts in town that features locally produced, organic menu items. While there are no books at that café, you can find many pages at Fable & Fire, a unique place that aims to spark literary exploration through a culinary experience.
If you’re craving tasty tacos, try Charlie’s, or head to Pier 101 for seafood and Boots Burgers for a no-nonsense, walk-up window serving nothing but burgers.
Rockwall is also home to a craft brewery, Siren-Rock Brewing Company, and a top-class winery, Rosini Vineyards Winery, which are both just a few miles from downtown.
Where to play
Where can you play pickle ball before or after catching a meal and sips? Standard Service, says Tonoli. She loves catching up with friends in a private cabana there or pulling up chairs next to a fire table.
For a day on the water, marinas such as Chandler’s Landing and Rush Creek provide great access to boating, fishing, kayaking, and windsurfing.
And if you want to stay on dry land, there are several award-winning golf courses along with tennis courts, pickle ball courts, and plenty of parks. “Don’t miss Harry Myers Park, which is known for its incredible disc golf and dog park,” adds Tonoli.
What to see
"Well-attended community events take place all year long in Rockwall-Heath, including live music concerts, a Christmas Light Boat Parade where festively decorated boats sail the lake, and some of the most fabulous fireworks shows in the metroplex," says Tonoli.
She also suggests the Rockwall Community Playhouse, Rockwall Art League exhibits and art shows, and the San Jacinto Plaza Music Series as just a few of the many community cultural opportunities in town.
Where to live
“Rockwall-Heath has neighborhoods for nearly every price point and lifestyle,” says Tonoli. “One can find legacy living or lock-and-leave properties; historic or modern homes; and natural settings including lakefront and lakeside, wooded creeks, and sparkling ponds.”
According to Tonoli, the average home price is approximately $427,000 — an appealing investment compared to California, New York, or even Dallas proper. But, luxury, custom-built living is also available in multi-acre farms and ranches — or highly sought-after waterfront properties — that are priced up to the $4 millions.
One such example is 18 Intrepid Circle, a stunning property located in the highly desirable neighborhood of Chandlers Landing, which is known for its lake views, rolling hills, and walkability (or golf cart drivability!) to the marina, tennis courts, and The Yacht Club restaurant. Tonoli and Hughes represented the seller of this hilltop contemporary.
