Bishop Arts pie shop bakes up sweet addition for Deep Ellum

Bishop Arts' darling pie shop Emporium Pies will open another location in what is becoming the hottest dining neighborhood in Dallas: Deep Ellum.
The new branch will open in the fall at 2708 Main St.; the owners revealed the new location on their Facebook page after teasing the news — appropriately — on "Pi day" (March 14).
They're taking over a classic brick storefront that was previously a scrubby club called Lazerz. But the far more meaningful fact about its location is that it is next door to barbecue juggernaut Pecan Lodge. Talk about foot traffic.
According to Eater, the Deep Ellum branch will collaborate with Pecan Lodge on a menu item called barbecue hand pies.
The Bishop Arts bakery first opened in 2012, then added a second shop in McKinney a year later.
To mark the news, the bakery is hosting a pop-up shop in front of the new address Friday from noon to 5 pm, where off-menu items will be sold.
