Don't Forget Your Roots
Dallas-based Roots starts juicing in Atlanta while searching for prime hometown spot
Dallas-based Roots Pressed Juices opened a storefront in Atlanta this week. But owner Brent Rodgers says that he's still looking for a space in his hometown. A Dallas juice bar could open in the next month.
"It's kind of a waiting game finding the perfect space," he says.
Roots currently offers online orders for individual juices, fortified water, detox and cleanse kits, hangover recovery kits, and cocktail mixer kits. All products are made with mostly organic produce, and individual juices are available at Studio 6, Equinox, Drip Coffee, Indigo Yoga, Bolsa Mercado, Beyond Pilates, Beyond Pedaling, Nutrishop Uptown and The Pilates Barre.
So why'd Atlanta get the first store?
Surprisingly, Rodgers says, it's been easier to find the perfect-sized space in other cities. Plus, his business plan calls for seven store locations to open in the next 18 months, and Atlanta fits the market of healthy-juice drinkers perfectly. So do Fort Lauderdale and Houston, two of the cities on Rodgers' list.
Meanwhile, back in Dallas, Rodgers is on the hunt for a storefront in Uptown or the Park Cities area. Once open, the juice bar will have booster shots — with ginger, lemon, watermelon and dandelion juice — as well as the standard blended juices.
