This Week In Gluttony
Fresh veggies and free-flowing rosé top this week's best Dallas food events
With the precious summer months fleeting, this week we are excited about taking advantage of the things that make us love the season so much — fresh veggies and rosé. There's also a beer social, Latin American dinner and a food tour on tap. We'll see you out there.
Tuesday, August 25
Vegetable Dinner at CBD Provisions
Executive chef Richard Blankenship welcomes chef Andrew Wiseheart of Austin’s Contigo and Gardner into the kitchen to co-host a special vegetable dinner celebrating the best of Texas’ summer produce. The six-course, family-style dinner includes three seasonal vegetable-centric dishes including okra with country ham, hazelnuts, and Shishito jam; summer squash with mussels and fresh herbs; and potato with farm egg and beef fat.
While vegetables are the heart of the menu, the dinner is — clearly — not solely vegetarian. Cost is $100 per person and the dinner begins at 7 pm. Reservations can be made by calling 214-261-4500.
Thursday, August 27
Come-As-You-Are Wine Dinner at The Grape
Sous chef Scott Girling, who spent six months studying at the Italian Culinary Institute in Calabria, takes the lead at this "Samplings from Italy" wine dinner featuring an intimate three-course bistro menu. The special guest of the evening is Jason Charles of Glazers. Cost is $52 and the event starts at 5:30 pm.
Craft Beer Social at Del Frisco’s Grille
Come enjoy six local brews paired with culinary creations to satisfy any palate. Community Beer Company, Four Corners Brewing Co. and Revolver Brewing each have two of their signature craft beers featured at the tasting. Representatives from each of the breweries will be onsite to answer any and all beer questions you may have. Cost is $44 and the event lasts from 7-9 pm. No reservations are necessary.
Saturday, August 29
Design District Market at Community Beer Company
Start your weekend off on the right foot with food from some of Dallas' fantastic food trucks. Bands The Fox and the Bird and Dripping Wet are set to play, and you can stroll the vendors featuring local artists, photographers, fashion and jewelry designers, vintage shops and more. Admission is free and the fun kicks off at 2 pm.
Rosé Brunch at Lark on the Park
Rosé will be flowing at this fun brunch, where chefs Melody Bishop and Dennis Kelley are preparing an exquisite three-course menu. Courses include end-of-season stone fruit and berries with arugula and walnuts; pork confit hash with hatch chilies; roasted baby Yukon potatoes, caramelized onion and poached egg; and Brioche French toast with roasted figs, plums and mascarpone whipped cream. Cost is $40 and the brunch starts at 11 am. Make reservations by calling 214-855-5275.
