Polished new sports bar restaurant brings some real moxie to Plano

The glossy Canadian sports-bar restaurant Moxie's Grill & Bar has opened its third location in the U.S. and it's right here in North Texas. Yeehaw.
More specifically, it's in Plano, at 8451 Parkwood Blvd., next to the Sandman Signature Hotel, which a spokesperson says will be opening in the next few weeks. Moxie's and the hotel are both owned by Tom Gaglardi, proprietor of the Dallas Stars.
Moxie's is now open for brunch, lunch, and dinner. After the hotel opens, Moxie's will open for breakfast hours as well. But for the time being, it's opening at 11 am.
This location follows the original that debuted in 2016 as part of an ongoing renovation of the The Crescent, the office, hotel, and retail complex in Uptown Dallas. A second location landed in Houston in early 2018, where the concept is said to enjoy tremendous success.
Moxie's menu features classic dishes and items with a creative twist created by executive chef Brandon Thordarson. Highlights include sushi cones with tempura shrimp, fresh avocado, pea shoots, nori crisps, and sesame chili ponzu; red Thai curry bowl with stir-fried veggies, jasmine rice, and curry-buttered naan; and potstickers.
Main dishes include Prime steaks from third-generation butcher Lone Star Meats; fish dishes such as blackened mahi mahi; and the popular chipotle mango chicken.
Cocktails include an avocado gimlet with rosemary- and olive-infused gin, avocado, simple syrup, and lime; and a strawberry ghost pepper margarita with ghost pepper-infused tequila, strawberry, orange, and lime.
Moxie's will host a weekend brunch featuring pancetta and white cheddar benedicts with pancetta bacon, hollandaise, hash browns, and fresh fruit; and Sicilian sausage hash with poached eggs, hollandaise, rosti potatoes, and multigrain toast.
Beverages include pomegranate beet soda with cucumber, cranberry juice, and sparkling water; and the signature Caesar with vodka, clamato, and housemade pickled veggie skewer.
The restaurant has an open kitchen, intimate booths, high-top tables, and a lounge area with numerous televisions. Also a patio. A patio is a must.
