Tacodeli Is Here
Restaurant rolls out true Austin-style tacos in West Dallas
Finally, we have an opening date for Tacodeli, the Austin-born taqueria, coming to Dallas: October 29. The first Dallas-area location is going into Sylvan Thirty, the mixed-use development at the crossroads of North Oak Cliff and West Dallas.
Tacodeli is a quick-serve format restaurant that will be open daily for breakfast and lunch only, offering a menu of nearly 40 made-from-scratch tacos.
Chef Roberto Espinosa, a native of Mexico City, opened the first Tacodeli in 1999 at Barton Skyway and Spyglass in Austin. Dallas native Eric Wilkerson joined Tacodeli soon thereafter as a partner and owner. There are five branches around Austin.
Inspired by the flavors of Mexico City, they maintain a commitment to culinary creativity and fresh and responsibly sourced products. One of their newer partnerships is with La Nortena Tortillas, a West Dallas tortilla maker that will deliver fresh tortillas daily.
The Dallas menu is the same as the Austin locations, with more than 40 taco options. There is the cowboy taco with beef, corn, caramelized onions, and roasted peppers; the chicken taco with chicken, Monterrey jack cheese, poblanos, and onions; and the fish taco with Gulf drum fillets, mojo-garlic sauce, guacamole, and pico de gallo. And in true Austin style, there are breakfast tacos.
The menu also includes vegetarian options, salads, soups, sides, and salsas, including the signature salsa doña sauce, a spicy jalapeño garlic salsa. There will be Dallas-specific specials added upon opening.
The restaurant seats 88 inside and 50 on the patio, with a design that will mesh the chain's Austin style with the design of Sylvan Thirty.
