Dallas Loves Brunch
Where to do brunch in Dallas on all-important Black Friday 2014
Black Friday is known as the most shopping-est day of the year. If that's your preference, then grab a spot in line outside Walmart right now (although we warned you the deals aren't that great).
But if Black Friday to you means a leisurely segue between the holiday and the weekend, then brunch is the most obvious way to spend it. These restaurants have come to the rescue, adding Friday brunches as a way to recuperate from the shopping — or avoid it altogether.
Bird Cafe
Fort Worth's Bird Cafe normally serves brunch on Sundays, but the avian-centric spot is doing a Black Friday-themed brunch on November 28 and 29. The menu includes favorites like the avocado omelet, beef short rib hash and scrambled duck eggs. Brunch is served 11 am-3 pm on both days.
Meddlesome Moth
Design District favorite hosts a Black Friday brunch with specialties such as egg white frittata, short rib hash and "featherbed" eggs. There is also a brunchtime beer feature, with the release of the 2008 Dogfish Head 120-Minute IPA in bottles and a tapping of the 2014 Dogfish Head 120-Minute IPA. Brunch is served 10 am-3 pm.
Sissy's Southern Kitchen & Bar
Because Dallasites can't get enough brunch, Sissy's expanded its weekend brunch to Fridays earlier this year. Options include chicken and waffles; Sissy's Benedict with crab cake, cornbread muffin, poached eggs, caramelized jalapeño, hollandaise and country potato hash; and chicken and dumplings. Brunch is served 11 am-2 pm.
Social House Uptown
At Social House, choose from breakfast tacos, Guinness-braised short rib hash and omelets. If you're up for it, there is The Elvis, with caramelized banana waffle, bacon and warm peanut butter. Brunch drinks get their own page on the Social House website, so this is serious. Friday brunch is served 11 am-4 pm.
State & Allen Kitchen and Bar
State & Allen claims to have the only build-your-own Bloody Mary bar in Uptown. On Black Friday, other drink specials include mimosas, greyhounds, screwdrivers and tequila sunrises. What about the food, you ask? Dishes include brioche French toast; chicken and waffles; and something called The Giant, with two eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon, and purple potato bacon'd hash. Friday brunch is served 10 am-3 pm.
