Margarita Mission
Uptown Dallas margarita destination doesn't mess around with muddling
For the next installment of Margarita Mission, adventurous reporter Emily Reppert heads to TNT Tacos and Tequila in the Quadrangle. With tequila in the name, it should come as no surprise that this casual Mexican restaurant shakes up stellar margaritas.
TNT's older sibling, Southwestern chain Blue Mesa Grill, blazed the local tequila trail, including its signature top-shelf margarita served in a shaker. TNT takes it a step further, with a margarita lineup that boasts unusual fruits such as blueberries and peaches. One standout is the orange noir, a citrusy take with muddled oranges left in the drink so you can scoop up the pulp.
"At Tacos and Tequila, we believe simple is best," says TNT's Zak Baron in the video. "We use all fresh products, and everything is made from scratch.
"What makes our top shelf mix different than other places is that it's all fresh-squeezed lime juice and organic agave nectar," he continues. That top-shelf mix forms the base of the orange noir, which also include Partida anejo tequila, Cointreau Noir (a cognac and orange liqueur blend), and those muddle oranges. It's topped with a sprinkle of cinnamon.
Reppert's quest is inspired by our list of the 10 best margaritas for discerning Dallas cocktail drinkers. Stay tuned for her next tequila-fueled escapade.
