The Cocktail Chronicles
Get in the seasonal spirit with this Dallas bartender's cozy cocktail
Fall may be coming to a close, but you can keep its flavors around for much longer. How? Just add cinnamon.
Dallas bartender Evan Johnson shows you how to make bourbon whisky even more warm and cozy by infusing it, then shares how to assemble a classic cocktail.
Watch the video and then mix up a glass of your own with the recipe below.
Fall Old Fashioned
Yields 1 drink
Ingredients
2 ounces Old Forester 1897 Bourbon Whisky
0.25 ounces dememara syrup
3 dashes angostura bitters
2 cinnamon sticks
1 fresh orange
Infuse the whisky by first toasting a cinnamon stick, then submerging it in the whiskey for anywhere from a few hours up to a day.
Combine the infused whisky, syrup, and bitters in a mixing glass, add ice, and stir for 30 seconds.
Strain the mixture over a large-format ice cube in the double old fashioned glass.
Flame an orange peel slightly and add to garnish.
