Dallas bar on Henderson Avenue to transform into Beetlejuice hangout
A bar on Dallas' Henderson Avenue famous for its pop-ups has another teed up: The Whippersnapper, located at 1806 McMillan Ave., is deploying a new pop-up with a Beetlejuice theme including bizarre decor and themed cocktails, evoking the gothic charm of the Tim Burton classic film.
The pop-up will debut on August 22 and run through October 12. In order to execute the makeover, The Whippersnapper will temporarily close its doors on Sunday, August 18.
Prior pop-ups at the Whippersnapper have included Barbie, The Office, Austin Powers, Game of Thrones, and Friends.
Co-founder Phil Schanbaum says in a release that the Beetlejuice theme is tied to the imminent release of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, a film sequel slated to come out on September 6.
"This Beetlejuice pop-up is going to bring the weird and the wonderful to life in a way only The Whippersnapper can," Schanbaum says. “With the upcoming sequel hitting theaters, it only felt right to bring a Beetlejuice Pop Up to The Whip! We’re thrilled to bring this uniquely bizarre experience to Dallas.”
The Whippersnapper will transform itself into Dante’s Inferno, Beetlejuice’s infamous hangout from the small model town. Expect a surreal experience featuring Beetlejuice-inspired elements like themed decorations with the classic black-and-white stripes and eerie green accents, dark woods, flickering lights, and supernatural surprises.
