Authentic Dallas Mexican restaurant takes a shot on spot in Bishop Arts
Dallas' Oak Cliff is due for some trendy trendy birria. Birrieria Aguiñaga, a small, family-run Mexican restaurant chain in Dallas, is opening a location at 330 W. Davis St. #220, in a small stand that has been home to restaurants such as C. Senor, El Padrino, and most recently The Last Stand.
Owners Francisco Javier and Emilia Aguiñaga are confident they can beat the rest, and will open the restaurant on Friday, May 17.
The couple, who are originally from Ojuelos, Jalisco, opened their first location on Northwest Highway in 2006 with a menu of authentic Mexican food. Their specialty is authentic birria de borrego (lamb), using a recipe that's been in the family since 1954. Their birria options include a lamb stew plate, and lamb soup with birria.
They also offer a variety of Mexican dishes:
- tacos with all the meats: birria res o borrego, fajita, pastor, chicharron, lengua, cabeza, carnitas, tinga, machito, tripa, buche, and chorizo
- burritos, quesadillas, tostadas
- breakfast including huevos de ranchero and breakfast tacos
Entrees include pork stew, chicken taquitos, chicken enchilada de mole, fajita nachos, carne asada, and fried rish with rice.
They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, keeping long customer-friendly hours, from 8 am to 12 am, and 24 hours over the weekend for late-night noshers, plus Taco Tuesday specials.
They also have a big catering operation, serving everything from family gatherings to large corporate events.
This will make six locations: 10346 Ferguson Rd. in Casa View, 105 Main St. Garland, 905 E. Ennis Ave. Ennis, and 507 E. Main St. in Grand Prairie, which is a combination sit-down and drive-through.
