Howard the third
Howard Wang's expands its Chinese food empire, starting with Southlake branch inMarch
We have an Asian invasion: Howard Wang's, the Chinese restaurant with an upscale vibe, is expanding to Southlake. A Howard Wang's will open at 1471 E. Southlake Blvd., taking over a space previously occupied by another Asian place, now closed (duh), called Stir Crazy Fresh Asian Grill.
This will be the third Howard Wang's in Dallas-Fort Worth; the second branch in Uptown opened at the corner of Lemmon Avenue and Carlisle Street in April 2011.
The Southlake location is slated to open sometime in the spring, said a staffer at the Uptown store — "probably around March or April," she said.
Howard Wang's is one of the more upscale Chinese restaurants in Dallas. The Uptown branch is frequently described as chic and elegant, with slightly higher prices to match. It also has a few high-end items on the menu you don't see at every neighborhood Chinese place, such as beef tenderloin kebabs, soft-shell crab or grilled ahi with citrus marinade.
All of that seems to make it a good fit for an aspiring suburb such as Southlake.
"Customers were asking the owners to open a branch in Southlake, so they decided to go for it," said the Uptown staffer.
Will the expansion stop at Southlake? Nope.
"They're looking at other locations," she said. "We're growing a little bit."
