Dallas' NorthPark Center is getting a new restaurant, from Canada of all places: Called Joey Dallas, it's part of a Canadian chain known for its global food and beverage and art on the walls, and according to a release, will open its first Dallas location at the mall on January 18.
The restaurant will be located on the first floor of NorthPark’s south corridor off Northwest Highway, in the space that was previously Seasons 52, which closed on January 2 — news first reported here on CultureMap Dallas, NBD.
The first Joey opened in Canada in 1992. There are now 30 locations in various Canadian cities plus Seattle, California, Miami, and Houston, where it opened at the Galleria in 2021.
The menu features "a fusion of flavors," from fire-torched sushi and steak to bowls, burgers, and handhelds. Signature dishes include:
- steak with crispy mashed potatoes
- hummus
- seared salmon sushi
- sake-glazed sea bass
The bar menu includes wine selections from an in-house sommelier, cocktails like the Spicy Passionfruit Margarita and Real Peach Bellini, and the Joey Supers, a twist on a highball with lemon and lime slush.
Staff includes Executive Chef Matthew Stowe who is a Top Chef Canada winner and has competed on Iron Chef from Japan and Bocuse d’Or. Head Chef is Eva Barrios, relocating from Houston.
The restaurant will occupy a 10,990-square-foot space featuring dining room, lounge, outdoor patio, and rental space for private events.
Part of their DNA is art and Joey Dallas will display works composed by international and Texas-based artists with "a vibrant, cosmopolitan aesthetic and western inspiration." Oy western, please no rodeo, it's cruel. Guests will find commissioned pieces from B. Shawn Cox, Melinda Buie, and Whitney Avra.
