New smoothie and bowl shop from Denver debuts on Dallas' Henderson Ave
A new healthy option from Colorado has debuted on Dallas' Henderson Avenue: Called Natuur Bowls and Smoothies, it serves smoothies and açaí bowls and is open at 1908 N Henderson Ave., in a space that was, way back when, V Spot Vegan Cafe.
Natuur was founded in Denver in 2022 by partners Zach Van Cleave and Taylor Spradling, who is a Dallas-area native. They currently have two locations in Denver and one in Austin, with a fifth set to open in Frisco in 2024.
According to a release, Natuur's smoothies and bowls are blended with fresh fruits and veggies, and can be ordered with boosters like collagen, probiotics, functional mushrooms, and adaptogens.
Smoothie bowls are "well-portioned," with no added sugar, in blends such as açaí or super green, to which you can add fruits, dry toppings, and a "curated" list of drizzles (drizzles are definitely something you need to curate, much like a museum exhibit), and gluten-free granola is included in every bowl.
Their menu is dairy-free, so plenty of vegan and vegetarian options.
They also have a selection of sourdough toasts in four flavors:
- avocado
- peanut butter-banana
- almond butter with fruit
- hummus with smoked salmon
... plus hot bowls that include oatmeal and tomato basil soup, plus seasonal salads, plus cold brew coffee.
A release calls the smoothies "intentional" and "curated," two of the buzziest (and empty) buzzwords out there right now — especially "intentional," the new curated. Can you imagine a smoothie that is unintentional? "Hi, I'm a smoothie that started my life's journey with the idea that I would be a cappuccino, but I lost focus and now I'm a smoothie, although I promise I will still be a fantastic smoothie, even if it was not my original intention." No one could trust a smoothie like that.
Co-founder James Samara says they want Natuur to be more than just a restaurant, stating, "We want to create a space where people can connect, share their love for healthy living, and fuel their days with good energy. Think of us as your go-to for a healthy pick-me-up and a dose of community spirit.”
