Dallas' revered diner Norma's Cafe debuts new to-go outlet in Garland
A Dallas restaurant institution is stretching out: Norma’s Cafe, the diner concept first founded in 1956, is opening a new "Norma’s Cafe On-The-Go" in Garland, allowing the brand to bring its revered Southern comfort food to forlorn cities where there are no Norma's such as Garland, Heath, Rockwall, and Rowlett.
Norma’s Cafe On-The-Go is available via DoorDash, Uber, Grubhub and pickup from a 650-square-foot space in Garland’s Revolving Kitchen, and will offer the brand’s most popular breakfast, lunch, and dinner favorites, such as the “eNORMAus” chicken fried steak and fluffy biscuits.
Norma's is famous for its breakfasts, biscuits & gravy, award-winning chicken fried steak, and housemade "Mile-High Pies". There are currently five locations: the original in Oak Cliff, North Dallas, Frisco, Park Lane, and Plano.
“It was important to us to stay true to our Southern-comfort roots, but consistently elevate to also stay with the times,” say Norma's VP of Operations Kurt Metzger. “Five locations just weren’t enough to satisfy the Dallas Metroplex, so we decided to expand to Garland. We’re so excited to be able to serve more guests in the DFW market, with the ease and convenience of office or home delivery.”
Owner Ed Murph says in a statement that they're "delighted to be able to share Norma’s Cafe with more people who live and serve in this city that we love. All we ever want to do was spread joy through our food and this allows us to do that on an even wider scale."
Options include omelets, pancakes, cinnamon rolls, fried catfish, pot roast, meatloaf, veggie plate, burgers, BLTs, and other sandwiches, a kids' menu, pretty much a lot of what you can get at a regular Norma's Cafe.
Norma’s has also rolled out a new app, live on IOS and Android devices. Customers who download the app will receive a $10 discount on their first delivery or pickup order whenever the craving strikes.
They're also joining names such as Whataburger with a line of branded apparel, available for purchase online.
“From a comfort food craving to a Norma’s branded hoodie, our goal is to blend the quality of the Norma’s experience with the convenience of today’s world.” Metzger says. “We often hear of the commute that some folks make to be part of the Norma’s family for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Our goal is to bring the Norma’s experience to them with a few clicks on their phone!”
