Party of Five brings brunch and wings to Dallas' Bishop Arts

Party of Five
A brunch-and-lunch restaurant has opened in Dallas' Bishop Arts: Called Party of 5, it’s in the former Tacos y Chelas space at 244 W. Davis St., where it opened in early January.
Party of 5 comes from husband-and-wife Corey and Shannon Turner, who've been in the industry since 2009 with concepts such as Turner Bros. BBQ Smokehouse and Smokin' Spuds BBQ.
They're a well-oiled team: Corey handles the cooking and menu. Shannon takes care of front of house and the back office. Party of 5 represents a departure from their BBQ history, with more of an upscale vibe including full-service.
“We wanted to open a brick-and-mortar sharing family recipes for a memorable experience,“ Shannon says.
The menu features fried catfish with fries and "Italian wings," fried and tossed in a zesty house sauce and sprinkled with Italian seasoning. Other menu items include prime rib sliders, quesadillas stuffed with brisket & cheese, and salads.
Prices range from $6 for a side Caesar salad to $22 for salmon bites.
They also have a daily lunch special where customers can get $3 off entrees. They also serve cocktails such as a strawberry martini.
On Sundays, they have jazz brunch with a live saxophonist from 10 am-3 pm. The menu includes fried catfish & waffles, chicken & waffles, and brisket breakfast tacos. They also serve mimosas and champagne.
The space is small, yet sleek, with simple black chairs and wood tables, a bar with black barstools, and portraits on the wall.
The name has a personal connection, inspired by family outings with their children when booking reservations.
“There’s Corey, me, and our three children, and you know how you go to different restaurants and they ask how many are in your party?” Shannon says. “So we voted on it and it kind of stuck.“
The couple decided on the Bishop Arts location because it’s both close to home and in a high-foot traffic area.
“We live in the area, and I think it was a blessing,” Shannon says. “I passed by and saw the for lease sign and things worked out with the owner. It took off from there.”
