Biscuits and brunch blaze in this batch of Dallas restaurant news
As patio season continues and the weather continues to be somewhat nice (for now), several restaurants have launched fresh new cocktails perfect for enjoying outdoors. Others have capitalized on spring by expanding their lunch and brunch hours or even introducing a new tea service.
Here’s what’s happening in Dallas restaurant news:
Rise Southern Biscuits & Righteous Chicken announced May 4 as the opening date for its first Dallas restaurant, located in Victory Park Plaza at 2414 Victory Park Ln. The restaurant will donate 10% of its opening day sales to the Friends of Dallas Animal Services, give a limited-edition sticker to the first 200 customers, and hold several drawings for free Rise food and prizes.
Mo’ Bettahs, the Hawaiian-style chain, opened its first Dallas ghost kitchen in Downtown at 921 W. Commerce St. The kitchen provides takeout and delivery orders only.
Komodo, the Southeast-Asian-Inspired restaurant in The Epic office tower, launched a new Sunday brunch April 28, featuring stations for dim sum, sushi, pastries, desserts, a raw cold bar, soup, and salads. Weekly on Sundays from 12 noon-6 pm.
Mirador has unveiled its new afternoon tea menu for spring, which includes strawberry orange blossom scones; coronation chicken with Buñuelo and sunflower tart; a wagyu sando served with cucumber gyoza and salmon rillette; and a rhubarb tart, with brown sugar choux and pistachio macaron. Tea reservations are available every Saturday from 11 am-3 pm.
Sanjh, the upscale Indian restaurant in Irving, has added lunch service from 11 am-2:30 pm daily. They’ve also added new dinner items iincluding Baingan Bharta, an eggplant mash with eggplant crisps, goat cheese, and mustard oil; Gilafi Seekh Kebab, minced veal, spices, bell peppers, and red onions; Calamari Gymkhana, griddled calamari, malt vinegar, rum, and butternut squash mash; and Green Lip Mussels, Mumbai tawa pulao, chorizo shrimp pickle, and green onions.
Ellie’s Restaurant & Lounge at Hall Arts Hotel has launched a spring menu featuring red snapper with with yellow pepper puree and crab, salmon with asparagus puree and cremini mushrooms, and pork Milanese. New cocktails include the French 1717 with Drumshanbo Gunpowder Gin or Ketel One Vodka, St-Germain elderflower liqueur, lemon, simple syrup, and prosecco; and the Bravo Bramble with Botanist gin, Domaine De Canton ginger liqueur, blackberry syrup, lime, and Fever-Tree club soda.
Knife Steakhouse has added seven new spring cocktails, including the Yattsu, made with Japanese gin, black peppercorn, juniper berry, grapefruit, lime, agave, and tonic; Patio Fizz, made with London Dry gin, fresh cucumber, lemon juice, and egg white; and Balboa Island, made with blanco tequila, creme de banane, and velvet falernum.
Columbian Country Club, the cocktail bar in east Dallas, has introduced its new Caviar Club, a happy hour featuring $5-7 small plates and $7 vodka martinis. Monday-Thursday from 4:30-7 pm.
Birdcall has a new limited-time chicken sandwich, available through June 4 featuring Nashville hot crispy chicken, pickled jalapenos, pepper jack cheese, and habanero aioli on a toasted bun, at its three locations in Frisco, Richardson, and Carrollton.
Taziki’s Mediterranean Cafe has added a new vegan and gluten-free menu item: a plant-based baked falafel made with garbanzo beans, herbs, and spices.
Bonefish Grill has new brunch menu items, including bang bang shrimp eggs Benedict, crème brûlée French toast, and crab and fontina cheese frittata. Available Saturday-Sunday from 11 am-3 pm.
Fish City Grill and Half Shells has added two new menu items: Beer-Battered Cod Tacos with jicama slaw, Fresno chili tartar, pickled jalapenos, micro cilantro, and sweet potato fries for $16.50, and Redfish Double Oscar with lump crab meat, grilled Gulf shrimp, hollandaise, broccoli rice casserole, and chargrilled asparagus for $30. Available for the month of May.
Razzoo's Cajun Cafe has launched a limited-time menu of rib dishes including a rib platter, a Cajun platter with chicken & ribs, a ribs & pork chop combo, and Key lime pie. Available through May 28.
Lazy Dog Restaurants has new seasonal dishes including firecracker shrimp, spicy tuna crispy rice, Green Goddess salad (goat cheese, peas, red grapefruit, pickled red onions, pumpkin seeds, on greens in green goddess dressing), rainbow trout (with crispy smashed potatoes, garlic green beans, charred corn, & roasted red peppers), NY steak with garlic butter green beans & waffle chip potato au gratin, sweet + spicy St. Louis style ribs with umami fries, three-layer confetti cake, and "Roadtrip Bowl' with fried chicken.
Kenny’s Burger Joint has been named to Yelp’s top 100 burgers in the U.S., and they’re celebrating by offering a new specialty burger, The Brontosaurus Burger, featuring a half-pound patty topped with two pork ribs, bacon, brisket, cheddar, onion, pickles, and chipotle mayo for $17. Available through May 12.
Dough Bro’s Italian Kitchen & Bar will offer a game-day special during Dallas Mavs and Dallas Stars playoff games: two large, one-topping pizzas plus six bone-in wings for $30. The deal is good for both dine-in and take-out.
Mexican Bar Co. is offering a specialty cocktail for the month of May: The Primavera, made with prickly pear juices, Cointreau and Flecha Azul tequila, and a tajin rim.
El Chico has two new cocktails for $7.50 each: Mama’s Sangria Swirl, a frozen margarita made with El Toro silver tequila with red sangria swirl, and the Raspberry ‘Rita, made with Monte Alban agave silver tequila, Gran Gala orange liqueur, raspberry puree, and margarita mix. Available through July 8.
Mountain Mike’s Pizza is offering new Jalapeño Not-Knots, made with house made dough, sliced jalapeños, mozzarella cheese, butter, and ranch. Available through June 30.
Dairy Queen has collaborated with Texas country band Josh Abbott Band to offer The Josh Abbott Meal, which includes a four-piece Steak Finger Country Basket, a mini M&M’s Milk Chocolate Blizzard, an iced tea, and a collectible limited-edition Josh Abbott cup. Available April 26-May 26.
Fuzzy’s Taco Shop has brought back its customer-favorite borracho beans, made with pinto beans cooked with bacon, pico de gallo, and Modelo Especial.
Taco Cabana has new menu offerings, including tortas and loaded fries that come with a carne asada option topped with queso, sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo; or a chili cheese option served with queso and chili con carne. They also partner with Jarritos to create a new margarita with the Mexican soft drink. Available while supplies last starting May 1.
Cicis Pizza is serving a new Oreo Brownie Pizza, made with a brownie base and Oreo cookie crumbles, drizzled with Cicis signature sweet icing. Available through June 2.
Paciugo gelato has partnered with Avocados From Mexico to launch a new limited-edition dessert: Avo Glow Gelachos, featuring a scoop of avocado gelato infused with avocado citrus glaze, topped with sprinkles, marshmallow sauce, and a side of waffle cone chips and chocolate dipping sauce. Available through May 31.
Jones Soda, the craft soda company, has launched a new food service division that expands the brand beyond grocery stores to bars and restaurants. STK Steakhouse and Kona Grill restaurants nationwide were the first to add Jones sodas to their menus.
Jack Daniel’s Country Cocktails has launched a new hard tea line, featuring four flavors, Original, Peach, Raspberry, and Blackberry. The beverages are available in retail locations in 12-packs of 12-ounce cans.
McDonald’s has introduced its Bacon Cajun Ranch McCrispy, made with a spicy Cajun ranch sauce, applewood smoked bacon, and pickles, served on a potato roll. Available while supplies last.
Sprouts Farmers Market is now selling Shicken, an award-winning plant-based food superbrand including their signature vegan chicken kebabs and curries.
