The end of July brings another roundup of dining news around Dallas, and this one has a little something for everyone: from a downtown closure to a reopening to an abrupt relocation. There are also new seasonal menus including some ice-cold desserts to combat the July heat.

Here's what's happening in Dallas restaurant news right now:

CBD Provisions, the restaurant at The Joule in downtown Dallas has closed — temporarily, according to an Instagram post. "After a decade downtown, we are closing for renovations. We’ll be back, refreshed, and better than ever in early 2026," the post says. The restaurant has been there for more than a decade, opening in 2013, with a swirl of press that mostly revolved around its barbarian pig's head carnitas, a shared dish featuring a half pig head from which diners would pull meat and stuff it into a tortilla.

Red Stix Street Food, the pan-Asian restaurant from celebrity chef Uno Immanivong, has closed its Park Cities location at 6501 Hillcrest Ave. #130. It first opened in 2019. The Farmers Branch location is still open, and Immanivong has a catering and test kitchen in the works.

Dulce Nina, the taco truck-turned-restaurant in the Cedars District, is reopening on August 1 after a three-month hiatus. It's now under the new management of managing partner Mike Law with a menu created by chef Bharat Bala. The menu features wings, appetizers, brunch, beers, and margaritas.

The POT, a baked potato truck and ghost kitchen concept, has reopened as a food truck at 1516 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. It was previously located inside the shared kitchen space South Dallas Cloud Kitchen at 1639 South Blvd. but closed in June after an "unexpected and abrupt removal from South Dallas Cloud Kitchen owned by Cornerstone Baptist Church."

Little Caesars opened a location at 7738 Forest Ln. in Dallas on July 26. Headquartered in Detroit, Little Caesars was founded by Mike and Marian Ilitch in 1959 as a single, family-owned restaurant. Now it is the third-largest pizza chain in the world, known for its pizza and "crazy bread," with restaurants in every state plus 29 countries and territories.

Café Momentum, the non-profit restaurant and youth culinary training facility, has a new summer menu. Created by Chef de Cuisine Aaron Collins, it features coffee-rubbed 44 Farms NY Strip with Comeback Creek red potatoes; pork chop with grits; seabass with summer corn; fettuccine with prawns in ancho cream; vegan lasagna with Demases Farms squash & zucchini; and fried green tomatoes. Desserts include Black Forest pot de creme, hummingbird cake, and white peach and pear sorbet.

Carbone Dallas has brought back its Celebration of Tomatoes seasonal menu, featuring Insalata Caprese, Spaghetti Pomodoro, scallops riserva, lasagna verde, and a Caprese martini featuring tomato water and basil oil. Available through the end of August.

Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse has a limited-time two-course dining experience called The Vaulted Table priced at $79 with watermelon & Heirloom tomato salad with grilled halloumi cheese; and Surf & Turf with a 10-oz Wagyu skirt steak, lobster tail, and French fries. Available at Uptown Dallas, Fort Worth, and Plano through August 29. They say you must specifically request "The Vaulted Table" when making reservations.

Stoneleigh P, the Oak Lawn bar known for its burgers and beer, is now serving pizza with Jimmy's sausage and house-made sauces, thanks to Cordon Bleu-trained Stoneleigh P chef Bruce Schuver. Pizzas include hot honey pepperoni, meat lovers, sausage fennel, alfredo chicken, and veggie for $14-$16. Available Wednesday-Sundays daily and every night.

Rusty Taco, the Dallas-based taco chain, has a new menu with starters such as tres grande — a trio of queso, salsa, and guacamole served with chips; crunch rolls; and an expanded taco lineup including crispy chicken taco, corny pig taco, and dynamite shrimp taco.

Thirsty Lion Gastropub has new limited time items including spicy shrimp ceviche stack, Heirloom tomato Caprese salad, Wagyu beef & bacon jam burger, and miso & orange lazed salmon. Prices start at $14 for the heirloom tomato salad.

Snooze A.M. Eatery, the buzzy brunch chain, has a new summer menu featuring almond butter coconut porridge, whipped cottage cheese bowl, greens & grains bowl, burrata toast, and biscuits & gravy. A porridge is $13.

Cheba Hut has a returning sandwich: the Orange Widow toasted sub with chicken, bacon, chipotle mayo, ranch, and mushrooms. A new lemon blueberry cookie made with real lemon zest and blueberries is $4.

The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill has two new items, available through August 31. The watermelon salad features watermelon, cucumber, fresh mint, feta, and balsamic vinaigrette for $7. The Saganaki burger is Greek-inspired with a charbroiled beef & lamb patty with Kasseri cheese, arugula, red onion, and tzatziki, on a brioche bun for $16.

Black Tap is collaborating with the FX series Alien: Earth for a limited-time burger and shake. The Alien Earth burger features prime beef, onion petals, pepper jack cheese, cilantro, and fries for $23; and Cryo Crazyshake features Mountain Dew topped with a chocolate cake slice, drizzle for $22. Is there no ice cream in that shake? Available through August 10.

Andy's Frozen Custard is expanding into beverages with a new Cherry Limeade with Sprite, cherries, key lime syrup, and vanilla frozen custard. Yummy Latte features vanilla or chocolate frozen custard with espresso and choice of caramel or fudge. Brewed iced tea is available in sweet, unsweet, raspberry, cherry, or strawberry flavors. Tea starts at $2, cherry limeade starts at $6.

Rita's Italian Ice has a gummy bear Italian ice featuring white Italian Ice mixed with real gummy bears; and a new glittery gummy bear gelati layered with gummy bear Italian ice, vanilla frozen custard, and a shimmering unicorn glitter topping. Both items available through August 24.

Dog Haus has a "betr" burger, a collaboration with food artist Josh Elkin and content creator-boxer Jake Paul. The burger features a Nashville hot-rubbed Angus beef smash patty, bacon onion jam, and miso ranch on King’s Hawaiian rolls. Available for $14 through September 8.

Sheraton Dallas Hotel is partnering with Dallas-based craft brewery, Manhattan Project Beer Co., to launch a House Honey Lager, available on tap at the hotel’s’ restaurants and bars: Draft Sports Bar & Lounge, Open Palette, and The Parlor.

Bourbon & Banter the speakeasy inside The Statler Dallas hotel has been named one of the 25 most historic bars, taverns, and speakeasies by Historic Hotels of America.

North Texas Food Bank has a new co-branded truck with Access Healthcare and Texas Super Kings with each of their logos on the truck.

Tasting menu restaurant Punk Noir to open in Dallas' Design District

A new restaurant doing a tasting menu only is coming to Dallas' Design District: Called Punk Noir, it'll open at 139 Turtle Creek Blvd, #130, Dallas, TX 75207 with a 20-course tasting menu and an immersive, multi-room design — smashing the conventions of fine dining, as a press release so articulately states.

It's set to debut Tuesday, June 2, in time to welcome World Cup visitors.

Led by James Beard Award-winning chef RJ Cooper, the restaurant will combine "world-class cuisine, irreverent artistry, and edgy elegance."

Owners are Dallas natives John McKeel and his sons Cole and Clay McKeel, who conceived the project as a passion project.

“Punk Noir is a rebellion against the ordinary,” Cole McKeel says in a statement. “What initially inspired us to open this concept were our personal experiences traveling across the USA, Europe, and Japan. We’ve eaten at many Michelin-starred restaurants, even some ranked among the Top 50 in the world. So many of them had amazing food, but the experience often felt flat—stiff, quiet, and even intimidating. We wanted to create something different: food that is just as refined and world-class, but an experience that is unforgettable, irreverent, and full of energy."

Punk Noir — which is no relation to Punk Royale, a similar-sounding European concept founded in Stockholm in 2015 that has since opened spinoffs in Copenhagen and Oslo — will be in a 9,500-square-foot warehouse where it will host two to three seatings per night, with only 26 seats per seating.

    The space will incorporate:

    • a dramatic communal dining room with projection-mapped visuals and graffiti art led by a “Mistress of Ceremonies”
    • an open kitchen where Cooper presents select courses to an intimate neon-lit dining room
    • the Noir Lounge, which will seat 46 guests and offer cocktails alongside “mini tasting” menus for those not partaking in the full experience

A VIP car service option will also be available, chauffeuring guests directly to the restaurant in a black SUV and delivering them up a private ramp and into the restaurant where they will be escorted to the first room to begin the immersive dining experience.

    The food
The experience will consist of a 20-course tasting menu that weaves together global influences, cutting-edge gastronomy, and Cooper's personal inspirations. The release says that diners can expect courses that are "playful and provocative — some just a single bite, others layered with theatricality and multi-sensory touches."

    From the release:

"The menu will change often but the experience begins with an 'agrarian prologue,' exploring the quiet intimacy of soil, root, and garden before moving toward the pull of the sea. Early courses such as camote morado with huitlacoche and blue crab with seaweed and calamansi establish a dialogue between land and ocean.

"As the progression unfolds, the menu builds tension through fire and transformation - featuring dishes like scallop with turmeric and Kaluga caviar, turbot with mussel and plankton, and cod cheek with dashi. Later sample courses explore indulgence through restraint, with compositions including Peking duck, Australian wagyu, and fermented endive - each emphasizing controlled richness and depth.

"The experience concludes with unexpected, thought-provoking pairings, for example, onion with Amur caviar, white chocolate with kombu, and sunchoke with ash - designed to challenge and resolve the palate in equal measure."

Ingredients will feature seasonal highlights from Italy, Japan, Central America, and closer to home. Each course will be paired with wines, cocktails, and zero-proof beverages.

The 20-course tasting menu is $295 per person.

    The chef
RJ Cooper won a James Beard Award for Best Chef Mid-Atlantic in 2007. His prior concepts include Rogue 24, serving a 24-course tasting menu, in Washington, D.C.; Gypsy Soul, a Southern bistro; and Saint Stephen and Acqua in Nashville. He previously worked at Vidalia in D.C. for seven years and has earned national press.

    The bar manager
The cocktail tasting program, led by acclaimed bar manager Shane Scully, is "a multi-course exploration of form, flavor, and restraint - reimagining signature cocktails through a lower-ABV lens without sacrificing depth or impact," the release says. The wine program will focus on wines "with a clear sense of place and straightforward appeal, drawing from classic and emerging regions including Champagne, Burgundy, and the Loire Valley in France, as well as Napa Valley and Sonoma in California, alongside selections from Italy and Spain," they say.

    The owner
John McKeel shares his and his sons' vision for Punk Noir: “It is irreverent fine dining. The lounge has punk graffiti wall art and unrestrained departure from the familiar. We are here to challenge the norms of traditional fine dining, turn the Dallas dining scene on its head. We are disruptors. We are here to challenge our guests' conventions of what elevated dining should be. We provide an experience that is surprising, provocative, entertaining, and delicious."

Reservations can now be booked at https://www.exploretock.com/punk-noir/.
