Artsy Tea Party
Art Ball big shots gather for gala gossip before monumental main event
Art Ball 50 chairperson Nancy Carlson recently welcomed the host committee for a tea and talk at her Park Cities home. There by her side was Dallas Museum of Art director Maxwell L. Anderson to thank these hardworking arts patrons for their support.
This years’ host committee includes an impressive list of Art Ball chairs from the past 50 years, in honor of the milestone anniversary for this philanthropic fête. While they enjoyed hors d’oeuvre from Grange Hall and treats from Haute Sweets Patisserie, attendees — including Gene Jones, Julie Hawes, Jennifer Karol, Elaine Agather, Catherine Rose, Schatzie Lee and Margot Perot — reflected on past themes, personalized from chair to chair, which ranged from museum milestones to different countries and even memorable exhibitions.
In the last 15 years, Art Ball has raised more than $22 million to support the DMA’s mission of engaging and educating the community, with funds going directly to the museum’s operating budget. Art Ball 50: Self Portrait is slated for Saturday, April 11, with an after-party to follow at 10 pm. Tickets to the latter ($250) are still available and can be purchased online.
