    Derby Fiesta

Dallas young professionals turn heads at Cinco de Derby mash-up

For the past few years, calendar qualms have forced in-the-know young professionals to choose between two fabulous parties that support two worthy causes. But this year, Center for BrainHealth’s Think Ahead Group (TAG) and Lee Park & Arlington Hall Conservancy heard our cries and hosted their Derby soirées accordingly.

Inspired by the May 5 date, TAG party planners Lindsay Gehan, Kristen Carter, and Kendal Kramer decided a rebrand was in order, and Cinco de Derby was born. Stylish philanthropists took full advantage of the dual-themed event. Derby-loving gents suited up in pastel blazers and coordinating bow ties, while the ladies donned sundresses and head-turning fascinators. Those embracing the Mexican twist opted for embroidered frocks, guayaberas, and sombreros.

The chefs at Marie Gabrielle Restaurant and Gardens whipped up plenty of Southern fare with a Tex-Mex twist, including bacon-wrapped jalapeño-stuffed chicken tenders, street tacos, truffle mac and cheese balls, and a dessert bar featuring churros drizzled with chocolate sauce. On the drinks side, margaritas, mint juleps, and rosé wine were all on offer.

After bidding on dozens of silent auction items — such as a custom suit from SuitSupply, a private wine tasting for 10 at Times Ten Cellars, an American Airlines Center sports package, and diamond earrings from Petra Jewelry — partygoers hit the dance floor with DJ Greg Anderson mixing the tunes. A photo booth from Plush Photo Pod added to the fun with colorful props and quirky signs. Spotted in the crowd were Sadie Fitzpatrick, Willie Stewart, Molly McEaddy, Heinrich Oosthuizen, Maggie and Stephen Richman, Claire and Ben Davis, Kevin Johnson, Reaghan Belfour, Melanie Wilcox, and Kristen Barton.

The Think Ahead Group (TAG) is comprised of young professionals who raise funds to support the Center for BrainHealth. Since its inception in 2009, TAG has donated more than $280,000 in support of research and programs focused on brain injury, brain disease, and healthy brain function.

Country superstar Chris Stapleton will headline the 2026 Dallas Cattle Baron's Ball at Southfork Ranch.

The announcement was made at a Reveal Party on Thursday, February 5 at a private estate in Dallas.

The 53rd Cattle Baron's Ball will take place Saturday, October 17 under the leadership of co-chairs Cynthia Everitt and Paige Westhoff. They've chosen the theme "Soar Higher."

"Twelve-time Grammy Award winner Chris Stapleton, the Kentucky-born singer, songwriter, and guitarist celebrated for his powerhouse vocals and blend of country, rock, and soul, will lend his unmistakable sound and commanding stage presence to one of Dallas’ most iconic fundraising events," says a release. "Known for chart-topping hits and deeply moving live performances, Stapleton’s appearance is set to be a standout moment in an evening devoted to raising critical funds for cancer research through the American Cancer Society."

The VIP party performer has not yet been announced.

Since 1974, Cattle Baron's Ball has raised over $111 million for cancer research. It is the world’s largest single-night fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. The 2025 ball, starring Post Malone, raised $6,002,095.

"This year’s theme, Soar Higher, captures the spirit of rising above limits together - pushing generosity, hope, and community impact to new heights in support of a meaningful cause," the release says. "For Cattle Baron’s Ball, it’s a call to elevate the fight ahead with bold energy and Texas-sized determination."

The 2026 ball is presented by Texas Oncology.

Tables and tickets are now on sale, ranging from $4,000 for a pair of "Silver Baron Couple Tickets" to $165,000 for a "Platinum Baron Table" for 36.
