Sophie Kranz and Greg Kelminson met in fall of 2014 through the dating app Hinge. Greg was Sophie's first — and last — match. After texting back and forth, Greg asked Sophie to meet for drinks on the roof of HG Sply Co, where the couple has celebrated the anniversary of their first date every year since.
Almost two years to the day after that first date, and Greg was dropping to one knee in the couple's backyard next to their goldendoodle, Sammie.
"He had a dog collar made with the proposal," says Sophie. "As I approached him and Sammie, Greg got down on his knee and proposed. Then our family came by to celebrate. It was truly an unforgettable evening."
Sophie knew she wanted a fall wedding. October is her favorite time of year, and she envisioned an event boasting all of the hallmarks of the season. With the promise of good weather ahead, the couple chose Marie Gabrielle, a beautiful outdoor Dallas venue, where Sophie's sister was married over a decade ago.
Playing to the fall theme, white and gold pumpkins decorated the space, which featured a cream, navy and gold color palette.
"Our florist really made our whole vision come to life," says Sophie.
Candles and lush greenery added to the ambiance in the garden oasis. Even the chuppah was covered with greenery. And from a selfie station to heel covers and State Fair-themed guest bags (the wedding took place during the last weekend of the 2017 State Fair of Texas), every detail reminded guests of the couple's thoughtfulness.
"I enjoyed getting to see my vision come to life," says Sophie. "You have a mental picture of how it will turn out, but seeing it come together is truly amazing. Plus, I finally had every little girl's dream come true: walking down the aisle with my dad, toward Greg. It was amazing to get to share it all with my family and friends."
