Silly Shootout
PGA golfer Rickie Fowler knocks some balls around Victory Park to prep for Colonial
Pro golfer Rickie Fowler took to Victory Plaza May 20 to knock some balls over and around buildings as part of Red Bull’s Off Course shot-making challenge.
Paired with PGA Tour mate and former SMU athlete Colt Knost, Fowler first took turns trying to hit 115 yards across the street onto a Texas-shaped green in AT&T Plaza before moving to a more difficult shot on top of a three-floor parking structure at the Northgate Village Apartments.
Shooting blind from more than 140 yards, Fowler and Knost had to hit their balls over a six-story building in Victory Park or slice right-to-left to find the green.
Knost regularly hit the bunkers around the green but was unable to find any grass in the high winds. Fowler’s closest shot came 30 inches from the pin, earning him the win. He even got a red jacket.
Fowler and Knost take their talents to Fort Worth on May 23 for the opening round of the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial Country Club.
Fowler, known for sporting bright orange Puma ensembles in honor of his alma mater, Oklahoma State, tied for fifth last year and has three top-10 finishes through 11 events this season on the tour.
Knost had his best finish of the season at the Byron Nelson last week, tying at 21 at three strokes under par.
