Just three days after a very public breakup, American Airlines has restored its relationship with travel website Orbitz. The Fort Worth-based airline withdrew its flights from Orbitz and its subsidiary Cheaptickets.com on August 26, citing a contract dispute.
That's all water under the bridge now, however, as Orbitz and AA came to a new agreement on August 29. If the spat had continued into September, American had vowed to pull US Airways flights from the site as well.
"We are pleased that our long-standing relationship with American Airlines allowed us to quickly resolve business matters and that we continue to offer a broad range of options, including American Airlines and US Airways flights, to the millions of shoppers who book travel on our global sites each day," Orbitz president Sam Fulton said in a statement sent out late Friday to media.
American Airlines didn't immediately get the memo, as its website still proclaimed "You won't find our fares on Orbitz" after the reconciliation was announced.
Orbitz says it has made up with American Airlines.
