American Airlines switches on Bravo and other live TV on flights

You can't escape them, not even in mid-air.

Travelers on American Airlines have a new amenity, which may or may not be a good thing: the opportunity to watch Real Housewives as they air. There is no escape.

According to a release, the Fort Worth-based airline has activated free live TV on its first 100 domestic aircraft, and plans to extend live TV and high-speed internet across its long-term mainline narrowbody fleet of more than 700 aircraft during 2019.

American is already the only U.S. airline with live TV on international flights; its international fleet offers five sports and news channels including CNNi, BBC, and Sport24.

Flyers on domestic flights will get 12 live TV channels powered by DISH:

All channels stream directly to customers' laptops, phones, or tablets free of charge. Live TV is easy to use and available from gate to gate – customers can choose it from American's lineup of free entertainment that includes hundreds of movies and on-demand television shows.

American Airlines VP Kurt Stache says in a statement that it's part of an entire connectivity package.

"Our customers have told us they want a living room experience in the air – the ability to watch free entertainment, stream their favorite shows on-demand, charge their phones, and stay connected from start to finish during their travels,” Stache says. "Free live TV on our mainline domestic fleet is the latest step in making that a reality, and it complements the live TV we offer on all of our international widebody flights today."

Free live TV is now available on more than 100 aircraft equipped with Gogo 2Ku high-speed Wi-Fi including all 48 Airbus A320s, which are receiving in-seat power during 2019. It is also available on more than 60 A319s, which have power outlets in every row.

The airline will add free live TV to aircraft equipped with Viasat high-speed Wi-Fi, bringing both of these features to American’s long-term mainline narrowbody fleet during 2019. American has high-speed Wi-Fi on 240 aircraft including all A321T three-class transcontinental aircraft.

DFW Airport seeks local restaurants to fill 14 new open slots

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is seeking new restaurants who want to open a location on the premises. According to a release, the airport has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP), inviting local brands and flavors to apply for 14 retail and dining locations across multiple terminals.

“As we build new gates, reimagine existing spaces and construct a new Terminal F, DFW Airport is committed to showcasing our region through our shops and restaurants so that when people travel through our terminals, there’s no denying they have arrived in the heart of Dallas and Fort Worth,” says DFW Chief Revenue Officer Ken Buchanan in a statement. “DFW serves tens of millions of travelers each year, and this is a chance for local businesses to help create an incredible sense of place within our terminals.”

The RFP is open for submissions now through February 2, 2026, and includes 11 food and beverage opportunities and three specialty retail locations across Terminals A, B, E, and F.

Concepts range from fast-casual, fast-food, and grab-and-go concepts to frozen treats, popcorn, cosmetics, and specialty retail.

All proposal submissions must be made through the Bonfire Procurement Platform.

DFW welcomed approximately 87 million customers in 2024, with continued growth projected to surpass 100 million passengers per year before 2030.

The latest RFP opportunity comes as DFW continues to make progress on its $12 billion capital improvement plan, DFW Forward, which is transforming terminals, expanding gate capacity and enhancing the customer experience across the entire airport. In addition to the new Terminal F, DFW is rebuilding Terminal C and expanding gate areas in Terminals A and C – projects that will introduce modern spaces, new amenities and a stronger platform for small and local businesses to grow inside one of the world’s busiest airports.
