New Virgin Hotels Dallas in Design District lines up spiffy management team
The exciting Virgin Hotels Dallas, set to open in the Design District in December, continues to beef up its staff, and CultureMap continues to dutifully, diligently report their every hire.
The coming-soon hotel has added three new seasoned hospitality professionals to their leadership team:
- Mark Yanke as general manager
- Michael Scheel as director of food and beverage
- Edward Hahn III as director of sales

Yanke comes to Virgin Hotels Dallas with more than 30 years of experience at properties such as St. Anthony Hotel and Hotel Emma, both in San Antonio. He spent 20-plus years with Redstone Companies, at properties that include The Houstonian Hotel, Lakeway Resort and Spa, and several Redstone golf clubs; and senior operational roles with Rosewood Hotels & Resorts and The Freeman Group.
Scheel will oversee the guest experience for all of the hotel’s dining and drinking outlets, including Commons Club, the flagship restaurant, bar, and lounge; The Pool Club, a social space for lite bites and cocktails; The Funny Library Coffee Shop, which will be located on the first level of the hotel; and all banquet and in-room dining offerings. Based in Dallas, Scheel's hotel and restaurant experience includes Bacara Resort and Spa in Santa Barbara, Shibuya in the MGM Grand Las Vegas, Vdara Hotel and Spa, and Hooters Casino Hotel. Most recently he served as director of food and beverage for Topgolf Dallas.
Hahn has 20-plus years of transient and groups sales experience, at properties such as the Four Seasons Resort and Club at Las Colinas, Warwick Hotels and Resorts, Radisson Hotels, and DoubleTree by Hilton. At Virgin Hotels Dallas, he is responsible for overseeing the sales and catering teams as well as the development of group packages and experiences. The hotel will feature more than 14,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor meeting and event space.
