Dallas Arts District offers irresistible package deal for culture lovers
If you've ever been intimidated by all the Dallas Arts District has to offer, then the Dallas Performing Arts Sampler Series is for you. Seven arts groups have teamed up to create DPASS, an affordable way for people to check out things like Broadway, theater, opera, music and modern dance in one easy package.
DPASS lets you buy tickets to a combination of select events at $25 apiece, which hopefully will inspire people to try different performances. But it's no cut-rate deal. Each organization will showcase a premier event, including The Barber of Seville from the Dallas Opera, Bernadette Peters from Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Cultural Awareness from Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Disney’s The Little Mermaid from Dallas Summer Musicals, The Fortress of Solitude from Dallas Theater Center, Godspell from AT&T Performing Arts Center and Motionhouse from TITAS.
All of the events are taking place between February and April 2014. The DPASS is on sale from now until only January 15, and buyers must choose their performances by that date. Not all performances of each event will be available; check out the DPASS site for more information.
Although individual tickets are already on sale for some of the events, another benefit of the DPASS is getting the jump on tickets for The Little Mermaid, The Barber of Seville and Motionhouse, which are available only as part of season ticket packages right now.
DPASS packages cannot be purchased online. You can buy them in person at the new box office in front of the Winspear Opera House or by calling 214-880-0202.
