Amazon launches local pop-up store at North Texas mall
A little old company called Amazon will be hosting a tech products pop-up in North Texas at the outlet shopping center Grapevine Mills on July 1. Called the Amazon Pop-Up, it'll be a kiosk where shoppers can get access to the full range of Amazon's tech devices, plus expert help.
The kiosk will be located between H&M and Rainforest Cafe. Customers will be able to test drive and purchase Amazon devices such as Kindle e-readers, Amazon Fire TV, Fire tablets, Amazon Echo, as well as other brands, at outlet-type prices.
Other products available will include streaming media players, smart home devices, Bluetooth speakers, cases, memory cards, phones, headphones, gift cards, and more.
"We’re proud to offer our shoppers a unique retailer at Grapevine Mills,” says Trudy Cresswell, director of marketing and business development.
The pop-up is part of a plan by Amazon to expand its presence in the real-world retail market. In September, the company announced its intention to open dozens of new pop-up stores in US shopping malls in the ensuing months.
A typical kiosk runs 300 to 500 square feet and carries an assortment of Amazon hardware and accessories. But the company's bigger goal is to drive more traffic to its online store. A full list of its pop-ups can be found here, and includes one at the Parks Mall in Arlington.
