These are the 6 best food and drink events in Dallas this week

The long Labor Day weekend unofficially will transition us to fall. But before the world goes crazy for pumpkin spice, these events offer whiskey, beer, barbecue, and vegan fare. Clear your calendar for Thursday, especially, when the events are stacked from top to bottom. 

Thursday, August 30

Amador Whiskey Dinner at Dallas Chop House 
This Monthly Cut features a delicious chef's tasting paired with whiskey from Amador. Courses include orange and Szechwan pepper, ahi tuna, cherry cola brined pork belly, beef tournedo, and citrus orange panna cotta. Tickets are $65 and dinner starts at 6:30 pm. 

How to Make Eggs Benedict at Sur La Table Knox Henderson 
Ready to impress your house guests with a classic breakfast favorite that can stump even the most savvy of home cooks?  This class will help you master it by imparting techniques on everything from the perfect poached egg to creating rich, creamy Hollandaise sauce. Tickets are $25 and the class starts at 5:30 pm.

James Beard Kick Off Dinner at Hutchins BBQ
Sample the first taste as this iconic barbecue joint showcases its James Beard menu to locals before pit master Tracy Hutchins heads to New York in September to cook at the prestigious James Beard House. Tickets are $55 and the dinner begins at 6:30 pm. 

Chefs Night Out 2.0 at V-Eats Modern Vegan 
This new series is designed to showcase the talent and creativity of the V-Eats Culinary team via a monthly fine dining experience. Tickets are $35 and include a choice of soup or salad, one appetizer, one entree, and one dessert. Think courses like yuzu apple salad, BBQ "pork buns," plum wine gelato, and more. The dinner starts at 5:30 pm.

Brew at the Zoo at Dallas Zoo
This after-hours event at the zoo lets you enjoy live music and animal encounters while sipping brews from near and far. Your ticket gets you into the zoo, pays for your parking, and scores you a Brew at the Zoo souvenir sampling mug with a beer card good for six 4-ounce pours. Tickets are $55 and the event kicks off at 6 pm.

Jam & Toast Brunch at The Rustic 
Between 10 am and 2 pm, guests can enjoy a family-style brunch spread for $16.95 that includes cheese and fruit, country baked eggs, hot chicken, baby French toast, smoked cheddar grits, doughnuts, and more. That same afternoon, starting at 12:30 pm, guests are invited to enjoy beer samples from 903 Brewers and listen to live music by Paul Renna, Luke Nassar, and The Jared Mitchell Band.
