Back To School Fun
Dallas power couple partners with Belk for DISD pop-up shopping spree
Most kids get bummed at the end of summer, but not the more than 400 students from Onesimo Hernandez Elementary School, who got a special treat in the form of a back-to-school shopping spree courtesy of Pat and Emmitt Smith and Belk.
The school gym was transformed into a pop-up shop, where students stocked up on complimentary shirts, blouses, pants, skirts, belts and socks. Snacks and a lively DJ made it a high-energy night for the kids and their parents.
During the event, the Smiths spoke about the importance of education and staying in school. Echoing that sentiment were special guests Sen. Royce West, DISD executive director Dr. Liliana Valadez and DISD board of trustees president Miguel Solis.
Both Belk and Pat and Emmitt Smith Charities are committed to making their local communities stronger by providing educational assistance to students in the DFW area and beyond.
