Dallas' No Tie Dinner & Dessert kickoff rocks the totally rad '80s
What: No Tie Dinner & Dessert Party kickoff event
Where: Scott + Cooner
The 411: At this totally awesome run-up to 2018 No Tie, models dressed in ’80s prom attire and blue eyeshadow not only teased their hair but also the fundraiser's theme, "A Night to Remember." It's described as "a flashback of an ’80s prom featuring a live ’80s band, a little Footloose dancing, and a lot of desserts." The April 2018 event also will reflect on the past 30 years and the people who helped the Dallas community living with HIV/AIDS, organizers say.
“No Tie is just one night, but AIDS Services of Dallas (No Tie's beneficiary) has been doing amazing work 365 days and nights for 30 years,” No Tie chair Leslie Frye says in a release.
A Night to Remember specifically will support ASD's “A Night of Housing” campaign. Dr. Steven Pounders is honorary chair, and Susan Friedman serves as publicity chair.
With ’80s pop music piped into the background, guests enjoyed d’oeuvres from Hattie’s and complimentary cocktails. Attendees included ASD chairman of the board Don Neubauer; ASD board member and founder of No Tie Dennis Kershner and his partner, John Moreno; former honorary chair and Real Housewives of Dallas celebrity LeeAnne Locken; former honorary chair Steve Kemble and partner Chad Collom; singer Hedda Layne; and No Tie’s event director Kristi Holman and art auction chair Christina Yielding.
The kickoff party raised over $14,000 for ASD. The 2018 No Tie Dinner & Dessert Party will take place Saturday, April 7, at the Frontiers of Flight Museum. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.notiedinner.org.
