Dallas power couple's annual golf charity event is back in full swing
The 2015 Emmitt Smith Celebrity Golf Invitational kicked off in grand style at the Preston Hollow home of Lisa and Steve Lieberman. To get the evening started, philanthropic power couple Pat and Emmitt Smith thanked event chairs Sarah and Jud Chapin, honorary chairs Matrice and Ron Kirk, and the party hosts for all that they've done to support the annual weekend-long charity event.
"We are gratified by the continued support of our friends, family, colleagues and our ever-generous corporate sponsors," Pat said. "Because of their faithfulness, our plans for national expansion of the Smith Charities will be realized much sooner than we ever dreamed possible."
The duo also announced that Educational First Steps is the beneficiary partner for this year's Emmitt Smith Celebrity Invitational. A percentage of funds raised from the golf tournament will go to this North Texas nonprofit that transforms existing daycare centers in at-risk neighborhoods into nationally accredited preschools.
The remainder of the proceeds from the weekend will go to Pat and Emmitt Smith Charities, which create and fund unique educational experiences and enrichment opportunities for underserved children.
The Emmitt Smith Celebrity Invitational weekend begins Friday, May 8, with a dinner and live auction party at the Omni Dallas hotel. It continues on Saturday, May 9, with an 18-hole charity golf tournament at TPC Craig Ranch.
