Sweet Potato Fries?
Dallas burger joint Snuffer's tweaks menu with risky new additions
With Snuffer's now under new ownership, changes are brewing. Dramatic changes, including the chain's expansion of its French fry category with a bold new addition.
According to a release, Snuffer's has added two new menu items: sweet potato fries and guacamole. The restaurant also officially switched from Pepsi to Coca-Cola products.
Adding sweet potato fries complicates the French fry situation. You don't want to put your top performer at risk.
Guacamole makes sense. Snuffer's new owner is Mike Karns' Firebird Restaurant Group. Firebird also owns El Fenix and Meso Maya. Both have guacamole on their menus. There is a well-established company-wide pattern of expertise in regards to guacamole.
Snuffer's embrace of guacamole is without reserve. The green stuff can now be added to any Snuffer's menu item, be it a sandwich or burger. It has even set the stage for a brand new menu item: chips and guacamole.
The sweet potato fries are another topic entirely. Snuffer's already has a signature French fry dish: its famous cheddar cheese fries. Adding sweet potato fries complicates the French fry situation. You don't want to put your top performer at risk. Adding insult to injury, the release says that the sweet potato fries can be ordered with any of the toppings offered on the cheddar fries. Which turncoat customer will be the first to order their cheddar cheese fries in a sweet potato version?
The new products are available at all locations, including Addison, Park Cities, Highland Village, Plano, Rockwall and Southlake. The original branch on Greenville Avenue is slated to open in early March.
