Fashionistas spread Dallas design love at One Arts Plaza
More than 250 stylish Dallasites packed One Arts Plaza for the most recent Fashionistas Fashion Friday, which celebrated the work of Melancholic Design by Jesse Thaxton and Mario Alberto Designs by Mario Alberto Gallegos.
This was a special night, because Fashionistas founder Heidi Dillon and Texas Fashion Collection curator Myra Walker were in attendance to see how the event has flourished since its inception. Walker, a professor at the University of North Texas, was especially proud to see one of her former students, Thaxton, showcasing her clothing line.
Melancholic Design specializes in tailored, structured garments without sacrificing the feminine form, whereas Mario Alberto Design is all about abstract beauty. Gallegos describes his designs as a form of spiritual growth and an expansion of the human mind.
Spotted on the fashionable scene: Gina Ginsburg, LeeAnne Locken, Tiffany Hendra, Imran Sheikh, Terri Provencal, Emmanuel Tobias and Angelena Ho.
