Grammy-winning Zac Brown Band kicks off country-heavy season at Gexa Energy Pavilion
Gexa Energy Pavilion was already going to be country-heavy in 2013, as the venue previously announced five concerts featuring the likes of Tim McGraw and Keith Urban that could be combined into one Country Megaticket.
The bucolic bounty's gotten even bigger with the word that the Zac Brown Band will play the first concert at Gexa in 2013 on Friday, April 19.
The Zac Brown Band is undoubtedly one of the hottest acts in country music these days. The group just won the Grammy Award for Best Country Album and were nominated for two Academy of Country Music Awards, including Vocal Group of the Year and Video of the Year.
The seven-member band may seem like relative newcomers, having won the Grammy for Best New Artist in 2009, but they've paid their dues like any good act.
The album that won them initial acclaim, 2008's The Foundation, was actually recorded back in 2006, and the hit single off that album, "Chicken Fried," dates back to 2003.
They'll be joined at Gexa by Levi Lowrey, a longtime friend who now records under Brown's Southern Ground record label, and Jerry Douglas, a renowned country musician who's won 13 Grammy Awards and has been named Musician of the Year three times by the Country Music Association.
