Grand Opening Style
Belk debuts at Galleria Dallas with splashy grand opening extravaganza
Being a Carolina girl myself, I knew North Carolina-based Belk wasn't going to roll into a superior shopping market like Dallas without a killer game plan. I was right, as the department store threw fantastic grand opening soiree at its new flagship store at Galleria Dallas.
All proceeds benefited Susan G. Komen's Passionately Pink for the Cure, so founder Nancy Brinker showed up to support the Southern style house's big night. Other VIP guests includedCourtney Kerr, Kimberly Schlegel Whitman, Pat and Emmitt Smith, Kristen and Patrick Smith, and Linda Cooper, who discovered Belk big dogs — CEO Tim Belk and COO Johnny Belk — beaming with pride.
Belk brand ambassador Hayden Panettiere was also on hand for a Q&A, which provided the celebrity sighting necessary for any truly successful event. Dallas design darling Lucy Dang was also in attendance, because Belk is carrying her line, Lady by Lucy Dang.
Among the highlights of this chic soiree were live performances from the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and artists Emily Hackett and Gabbie McGee, as well as an amazing fashion show hosted by Arlene Goldstein, Belk’s vice president of trend merchandising and fashion direction.
The evening ended like all successful shopping events should, with all attendees receiving a $25 Belk gift card. Five lucky winners won $1,000 gift cards, and one guest scored a guitar autographed by Blake Shelton.
Belk is the largest family-owned and -operated department store brand, with 300 locations throughout the South, including 14 in Texas. The Galleria store is its first flagship in the state, but it also has stores in McKinney, Rockwall, Flower Mound and Fort Worth.
