La Bella Toscana was the theme for this year’s Greer Garson Gala, and the nearly 400 finely dressed philanthropists who attended the Omni Dallas affair were in for an Italian treat.
During a VIP cocktail reception with honorary chairs Micki and Mayor Mike Rawlings, guests got a preview of the evening’s entertainment: Goga Denisov, who can sing in 12 languages, performed some operatic Italian ballads. Then everyone had a chance to place bids in the silent auction before settling into their seats for dinner and inspiration.
The inspiration came in the form of a powerful video of two patients from the Margot Perot Center for Women & Infants at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, the evening’s beneficiary. Both women, who have battled breast cancer, shared their emotional and painful journeys to convey the value of the care they received there.
Following dinner, Denisov returned to the stage with a full band, and they entertained the crowd — including Karina and Horatio Lonsdale-Hands, Cathy Raney, Anne Spears, Keri Tonn, David Heard, Evelyn and Chris Ruml, and Virginia and Mark Talley — for nearly two hours. Speaking of entertainment, a Longhorn Photo Booth captured some of the more relaxed and candid moments of the evening.
It’s amazing what people will do when presented with props and a digital camera. You can see some of the antics in the slideshow above.
