Mother’s Day brunch dominates the scene this week, but there are some beer events happening that’ll keep you buzzed and ensure you pick out a great gift for your mom. Plus we’ve got a grand opening, a burger and barbecue fundraiser for Fort Worth’s NICU, and a Dishcrawl at the Shops at Legacy.
Wednesday, May 8
The Gin Mill Blind Beer Tasting With Franconia and Stone Brewing Co.
The Gin Mill hosts a blind beer tasting at 7 pm with Stone Brewing Co. from San Diego and local brewer Franconia. Test your beer knowledge and tasting skills. Cost is $30 per person and includes16 varieties of beer and light bites to cleanse the palate.
Dishcrawl at the Shops at Legacy
The Shops at Legacy hosts a Dishcrawl beginning at 7 pm. We can’t tell you much more because they don’t tell us much to begin with, but this Plano destination has restaurants like Mi Cocina, Cafe Istanbul, Seasons 52 and more, so you’ll be in good hands. Tickets are $45.

Full Circle Tavern Grand Opening
The newest gastropub, down in the South Lamar neighborhood, has a grand opening from 5 to 7 pm, with complimentary bites and beers, including drinks from Franconia and Deep Eddy Vodka.
Deep Ellum Brewing Company Sign Lighting
The boys at Deep Ellum Brewing have a new sign, and it’s a dandy. They say it’ll be visible from downtown buildings and Interstate 30. The lighting is around 7 pm as part of its Thursday night tours from 6-8:30 pm.
Burgers 4 Babies
From 6:30-10:30 pm at Woodshed Smokehouse, chef Tim Love hosts the third annual Burgers 4 Babies to benefit Fort Worth’s NICU Helping Hands Foundation. The event features live music and cocktails as well as burgers and barbecue from chefs such as Ilan Hall of Top Chef fame and Gabe Thompson from New York’s L’Artusi. Tickets are $175.
Saturday, May 11
3rd Annual Dogfishtival at Common Table
The Common Table does a massive Dogfish Head tap takeover with 22 brews, including a few new to Texas and the oft-searched-for 120 Minute IPA. Drinking begins at 11 am with the Olde School and 2011 Burton Baton tapped at 1 pm; 120 minute IPA and Sah'Tea are tapped at 3 pm. It's free to walk in, but the beers will cost you.
North Texas Beer and Wine Festival
Enjoy the original giant beer and wine festival from 2 to 7 pm at Irving Convention Center, with hundreds of beers and wines and live music in the beer garden. Tickets are $30 in pre-sale ($40 at the door), and that gets you 12 two-ounce samples, although you can buy more tickets at the festival.
