    We'll admit it — this week's roundup is giving us all of the foodie feels. From a sushi tasting at White Rock Lake to a Friday night food tour at the Dallas Farmers Market and one giant crawfish boil, the next few days are shaping up to be quite delicious.

    Thursday, May 18

    Rex's Seafood One Ton Crawfish Boil at Dallas Farmers Market
    Take advantage of crawfish season while you can with this crawfish boil offering all-you-can-eat crawfish, potatoes, and corn. There's also live music and drink specials. Tickets are $30, and the boil begins at 4 pm.

    Chef Jeffrey Kollinger Cooking Demonstration at VomFass Village 121
    Well-known chef Jeffrey Kollinger is doing an in-store cooking demonstration using VomFass oils, vinegar, and liqueurs. Visitors can get ideas on how to use their products in unique ways, and get a delicious treat made by Kollinger. Tickets are $35, and the event starts at 6:30 pm.

    Summer Tequila Dinner at Cantina Laredo Addison
    Evoking the flavors of a modern Mexico City cuisine, this four-course tequila dinner features distinctive off-the-menu items paired with a featured Herradura tequila cocktail. Courses include fried avocado with aioli sauce, quinoa and vegetable soup, crab poblano enchiladas, and more. Tickets are $60, and dinner starts at 7 pm. Call 972 458-0962 for reservations.

    Taste Addison at Addison Circle Park
    A celebration of food, music, and fun, this annual three-day festival dishes out the best food and flavor with a healthy side of jam. The festival showcases some of Addison's 180 restaurants in less than 4.4 miles (wow), and this year, Dallas' own Vanilla Ice is performing. Other performers include Gary Allan (Saturday) and tribute bands on Sunday. Tickets start $15, at and the gates open on Friday at 6 pm.

    Friday Night Foodie Tour at Dallas Farmers Market
    Food Tours of America brings its Friday Night Foodie Tour to Dallas, featuring five generous, artisanal food tastings from local restaurants, as well as time for shopping and socializing. The host narrates each tasting course, sharing the relevance of Dallas Farmers Market, along with foodie trivia and the best bits and bites of Dallas history that will surprise even longtime local residents. Optional upgrades for this event include red or white wine by the bottle. Tickets are $79 and the event starts at 6:30 pm.

    Saturday, May 20

    Battle of the Pies at Tyler Street Market
    Good Local Markets is back for its eighth year hosting the blockbuster pie extravaganza that features amateur bakers of all ages. All pies are available for tasting by the public, who vote “best of” in the categories of fruit, nut, chocolate, cream/custard, and best overall. Tickets are $5, and the pie judging starts at 10:30 am.

    Mama Ida's Ice Cream Social at Dallas Farmers Market
    To honor the commitment and efforts of Dallas Farmers Market Friends founder Ida Papert, the Dallas Farmers Market Friends hosts this annual event at Pearl Plaza. Working with local donations of fresh ingredients like fruit, nuts, and mint, DFW culinary students and the Dallas County Youth Village create and serve a variety of ice creams and sorbets to be judged by the public for prize winnings. Admission is free, and the fun starts at noon.

    Monday, May 22

    Sushi on the Dock at White Rock Lake Boat Club
    Greater Dallas Restaurant Association is hosting this innovative Asian-inspired event that allows guests to sample some of Dallas’ finest sushi from the top sushi chefs in town. Did we mention there will be Japanese beer and sake too? Proceeds support GDRA general fund and Texas Restaurant Education Foundation. Tickets are $100, and the sushi tasting starts at 6:30 pm.

    Revered family-owned Mediterranean restaurant debuts in North Dallas

    An upscale Mediterranean restaurant is coming to North Dallas from a trusted name: Called Zon Zon, it'll open at 5455 Belt Line Rd. #130, in the Work/Shop center, and it's hospitality group Yela Concepts led by Yaser Khalaf (Darna, Baboush), together with his son Mak Khalef in their first collaboration.

    According to a release, it'll open on December 22.

    Named for Mak's sister Zaina (“Zon Zon”), the restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner with a refined take on Mediterranean dining, rooted in tradition but with modern influences.

    "We tried to merge what embodies Mediterranean cuisine with dishes that people in Dallas love," Mak says. "A lot of the dishes we have on menu are Mediterranean but have American and Texan influences."

    Mezze favorites include hummus topped with green shatta and extra-virgin olive oil; baba ghanoush with charred eggplant, tahini, dukka, and pomegranate; crispy cauliflower with saffron labneh; tuna neya with tahini, mixed pickles, and Aleppo pepper; and kibbeh with ground lamb, onions, pine nuts, and dill labneh.

    Salads include seared tuna salad with freekeh and golden beets; Tahini Caesar with tahini–Caesar dressing and za’atar croutons; and roasted beets with burrata, oranges, and pistachios.

    Entrées include roasted chicken with garlic-batata and pomegranate jus; chicken shish kebab over saffron rice with almonds and raisins; hanger steak shawarma frites — a clever twist on steak frites with hand-cut fries; ZZ’s Wagyu cheeseburger with smoked provolone and house pickles; Prime ribeye with za’atar chimichurri and heirloom carrots; and apricot lamb couscous.

    The beverage program complements the menu with a Mediterranean-focused wine list and creative cocktails such as the coffee-kissed Midnight Istanbul and ZZ’s Margarita, with burnt pineapple and ras el hanout.

    Designed in collaboration with Dallas-based Coeval Studios, the restaurant features a 2,130-square-foot interior with an expansive 735-square-foot patio that seats 76, for a total occupancy near 100.

    The restaurant boasts an open kitchen, while decorative finishes include modern woodwork, rich textures, and Middle Eastern-inspired details — stylish yet inviting, with a setting that feels like home.

    “The inspiration behind Zon Zon came from wanting to create the kind of place we’ve always wished existed — a neighborhood Mediterranean spot that feels both familiar and exciting - we wanted to create a comfortable space where guests can meet up with friends or neighbors on a regular basis,” says Yaser in a statement.

    Mak went to college to sudy biomedical engineering, but says he couldn't resist the lure of the restaurant world in which he grew up.

    "Zon Zon is a reflection of everything we love about food," Mak says. "What makes this especially meaningful is building it with my dad — bringing our family’s story and passion to the table."
