Art Party
Mario Testino dazzles Dallas Contemporary crowd with Alta Moda exhibition
Art aficionados showed up en masse to the Dallas Contemporary to preview Mario Testino's buzzy exhibition, "Alta Moda." The party got started with an intimate fundraising reception at the Contemporary Friday night, followed by a dinner on the rooftop terrace of The Joule co-hosted by Nasiba Hartland Mackieand Nancy Rogers.
Guests — including Erin Wasson, Tim Headington, Michael Tregoning, Brian Bolke, Chandra North and Anna-Sophia Van Zweden—admired the collection, comprising portraits of Peruvians from the mountainous region of Cusco wearing traditional and festive dress.
"I am Peruvian, and it is one of my missions to celebrate my country's rich culture on a world stage," Testino said. "I hope that through this exhibition I am able to do that. The Dallas Contemporary is such a dynamic institution, and I am delighted to bring this body of work there."
On Saturday, the Contemporary hosted an exclusive members-only opening celebration; later that night, it was back to The Joule for a preview of new craft cocktail salon Midnight Rambler, in honor of the legendary photographer, although the bar is not set to open to the public until October.
"Alta Moda" runs through December 21 at the Dallas Contemporary.
