Deep Ellum Brewing launches Cans for Cans campaign to combat breast cancer
Deep Ellum Brewing Company is selling a new style of cans for October. Its "Cans for Cans" program hopes to raise money for a former Dallas Cowboy's breast cancer awareness foundation.
Teaming up with former Cowboys linebacker Bradie James and his Foundation 56, Deep Ellum Brewing is packaging all of its cans with pink PakTech tops with stickers showing support for breast cancer research. One dollar from each six-pack sold of Dallas Blonde, Rye Pils and the rest of DEBC's line-up will go to Foundation 56 during October.
Breast cancer awareness is close to James and the foundation, as the former Dallas Cowboy lost his mother to the disease in 2001.
The brewery recently spread its reach to College Station, while breaking in a new brewer, Jeremy Hunt, who began in July.
