TACA tops itself at smashingly successful Custom Auction Gala 2014
More than 330 guests dressed in their finest and headed to the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek for the sold-out TACA RBC Wealth Management Custom Auction Gala, which is always an unforgettable night of live auctions and creative cuisine.
Co-chairs Wanda Gierhart and Dean Fearing, along with honorary co-chairmen Ann and Lee Hobson, welcomed guests — including Becky Young, Nancy Carlson, Lynn and Allan McBee, Kate Rose Marquez, Gillian Breidenbach, Christy Coltrin and Brad Oldham, and Lisa and John Rocchio — into the Mansion’s famous restaurant for an exquisite meal whipped up by executive chef Bruno Davaillon and his team.
Then it was onto the promenade for champagne and miniature desserts created by Mansion pastry chef and Tastemaker Award winner Nicholas Blouin: black currant lavender macarons, chocolate hazelnut composition, chocolate mint moon pie and more. Post-dessert, it was time to get down to business.
TACA fans know this party is all about the live auction. Led by Andrew McVinish, head of private and iconic collections at Christie’s Americas, packages ranged from trips to New York Fashion Week to upscale dining experiences and everything in between. In fact, the most unforgettable item on the auction block came from Fearing, who donated a trip for two couples to join him and Gierhart in Cabo San Lucas for a private dinner party at the home of the Red Rocker Sammy Hagar while enjoying three nights in Cabo’s most luxurious resort, Capella Pedregal.
The live auction exceeded last year’s record-breaking revenue by raising a total of $215,000 to support North Texas arts organizations. Overall the gala raked in a whopping $615,000.
“Friday night was not only record breaking in attendance and funds raised, but it was also a magnificent evening for Dallas arts patrons,” Gierhart said. “TACA’s Custom Auction Gala has become a highly anticipated event for the Dallas arts community, and we are very grateful to everyone who supported the event.”
Since its inception, TACA has distributed more than $23 million to emerging and established performing arts organizations with budgets as small as $23,000 to as large as $28 million.
