Del Frisco's to relocate North Dallas flagship steakhouse to new Uptown tower

    Oct 30, 2014 | 3:46 pm

Del Frisco's Restaurant Group has some changes in store: Its flagship steakhouse is on the move, and the company is opening another Dallas-Fort Worth branch of its more casual grill concept.

After 20 years, Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House will relocate from its North Dallas address to McKinney & Olive, a new development in Uptown Dallas. According to a release from Crescent Real Estate Equities, the steakhouse will be located at the main entrance on McKinney Avenue and will feature a two-story design with huge glass windows and a balcony overlooking a 1-acre park.

The move is targeted for 2016; until that time, the steakhouse will remain open at its current location on Spring Valley Road.

The new branch will feature views of Uptown and downtown Dallas, as well as a dining experience enhanced by McKinney & Olive's piazza and gathering space filled with umbrella-covered tables, park benches and water features. The park and surrounding grounds will be designed by landscape architect Jim Burnett of Klyde Warren Park fame.

"The move from North Dallas to Uptown for the Double Eagle is all about evolving the brand and showcasing more options and modern amenities while still sticking to the concept's rich heritage and tradition," said Del Frisco's Restaurant Group CEO Mark S. Mednansky.

Designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, McKinney & Olive is a 20-story office tower located on a 3.1-acre site near the Rosewood Crescent Hotel and Ritz-Carlton, Dallas. Crescent Real Estate Equities will announce other restaurants and a coffee hub at a later date.

Meanwhile, another branch of Del Frisco's Grille will open in Plano, at the Shops at Legacy district, in summer 2015. It will take over the space at 7200 Bishop Rd. that was once occupied by D'Hierro Furniture, which has been vacant for some time.

The first Del Frisco's Grille opened in December 2011 on McKinney Avenue, offering creative twists on classic comfort food and shareable dishes such as cheesesteak egg rolls and tuna tacos. Since then, 15 locations have opened around the country, from Santa Monica Pier to Rockefeller Center in New York.

The Del Frisco's Grille in Plano will be the fourth in the North Texas market, joining Uptown, Southlake and Fort Worth.

Del Frisco's is relocating its flagship Double Eagle Steak House to the upcoming McKinney & Olive in Uptown.

The day has arrived for the opening of Gas Monkey Icehouse, the new concept from automotive icon and DFW native, Richard Rawlings, will officially open its doors Tuesday, May 6 at Grandscape in The Colony at 4545 Destination Dr, The Colony, TX 75056. A revival of the iconic Gas Monkey brand, this newest addition to North Texas' entertainment and dining scene, offers a place for guests to enjoy great food, cold beer and good times.

Richard Rawlings, the world-renowned founder of Gas Monkey Garage and star of Discovery Channel’s Fast N’ Loud, leads this venture with Reach Hospitality (PieTap, Black Tap, Evelyn, The Mexican), a team of seasoned hospitality professionals who have been hand-selected to launch and manage the concept. With Richard serving as owner and the face of the brand, Reach brings their operational expertise to the table. This collaboration blends Rawlings’ vision and star power with an elite level of service and culinary execution, ensuring that Gas Monkey Icehouse is a go-to destination in the DFW area.

Spanning 12,993 square feet—including a 3,210-square-foot outdoor courtyard—Gas Monkey Icehouse boasts seating for 340 guests, with 220 indoor and 120 outdoor seats. The space includes two indoor/outdoor bars, a massive custom neon sign centerpiece in the courtyard, and an Alamo-inspired façade that pays homage to Texas pride. Many of the furnishings were custom-built by Gas Monkey Garage using repurposed industrial materials, giving the venue a feel that reflects Rawlings’ hands-on legacy.

“It feels like the right time to jump in, knock down the doors, and bring back a flagship Gas Monkey spot to our hometown,” says Rawlings. “Grandscape is the perfect location—it’s alive and thriving, featuring unique concepts that make it a one-of-a-kind destination. We’re proud to bring the Gas Monkey concept back in a big way, and Reach Hospitality is the perfect team to make that happen.”

Guests will experience the unmistakable Gas Monkey energy alongside authentic Texas hospitality. Whether it's date night, a group gathering, or just grabbing a cold one solo, the Icehouse is built for all-day, all-night enjoyment. The food and beverage program features crowd-pleasing fare such as burgers and pizzas, paired with 28 ice-cold beers on tap and signature cocktails.

Highlights on the menu include the Flying Monkey Wings - bone-In chicken wings with choice of buffalo, lemon pepper, whiskey BBQ, honey sriracha, or get it Richard’s way: tossed in Gas Monkey Skidmark Sauce; Garage Beer Battered Chicken Tenders - hand-battered in Gas Monkey’s own Garage Beer, served with comeback sauce; Smash’d Burger - double smash’d patties, American cheese, caramelized onions, pickles, jalapeños, secret sauce; and Garage Pizza - a full selection of “Garage Pizza”, such as The Gorilla, made with San Marzano tomato sauce, pepperoni, Texas taco meat, bacon, mozzarella, ricotta, and spicy honey.

With ample TVs and VIP spaces for private events, the Icehouse is designed for entertainment. Richard will also be filming onsite for his YouTube channel, social media channels and fans can expect pop-up car shows, live events and special programming throughout the year.

To celebrate the launch, Gas Monkey Icehouse will also debut an exclusive line of merchandise that captures the bold spirit of Texas with the untamed edge of Gas Monkey Garage. From rugged tees and hats to collectible gear designed with custom graphics, fans can snag a piece of the action and show their Texas pride. Available only at the Icehouse, this limited-edition collection brings the heart of Gas Monkey and the soul of the Lone Star State together in true signature style.

Gas Monkey Icehouse will open for dinner service on Tuesday, May 6 with lunch service launching Thursday, May 15 and weekend brunch starting Saturday, May 17.
