Louisiana Cajun sports bar triples down on Dallas with third location
A Cajun sports bar-restaurant concept with Louisiana roots is coming to a growing center north of Dallas.
Walk-On's Bistreaux & Bar, the Baton Rouge-based chain founded by Brandon Landry and co-owned by New Orleans Saints superstar Drew Brees, opens a new location at 5774 Grandscape Blvd. in The Colony. According to a release, it'll open on Monday, June 22.
Walk-On's features Louisiana cuisine and a full bar in a game-day atmosphere. Brees and his wife, Brittany, bought in as co-owners in 2015.
Food is made from scratch, with a diverse menu featuring twists on game-day staples and upscale takes on Louisiana mainstays such as crawfish etouffee or duck & Andouille gumbo.
The menu has fried seafood platters, pastas, burgers, sandwiches, and wraps. There are po'boys, fried oysters, gumbo, fried alligator, and boudin balls.
Starters include waffle cheese fries, fried pickles, boneless wings, cheeseburger sliders, spinach-artichoke dip, and venison nachos. They have a bread pudding made with Krispy Kreme doughnuts.
The franchisee for Dallas-Fort Worth is Josh Allen, who says in a statement that they're excited to bring Walk-On's to The Colony.
"The new restaurant is in the perfect location in Grandscape, a brand new outdoor entertainment, dining and shopping destination in The Colony," Allen says. "Walk-On's is unlike anything in else in The Colony, so we know it’s going to be a very welcome addition to the dining and entertainment landscape in the area."
He opened the first Walk-On's in the Dallas area in Las Colinas in 2018, followed by Arlington in 2019. When Grandscape opens, it will be the 10th Walk-On's in Texas which includes Lubbock, San Antonio, and Tyler; there are 39 locations total.
Opening during these fraught times means that the safety and well-being of guests and staff must be considered, and Walk-on's says that sanitation will be a top priority.
