Goss-Michael Foundation corrals arts patrons to announce big plans for RE:DEFINE 2014
Arts advocates and philanthropists Joyce Goss and Kenny Goss gathered fellow art lovers, supporters, friends and host committee members at the Goss-Michael Foundation to announce the much-anticipated plans for RE:DEFINE 2014.
The benefit, set for April 4, 2014, will support the MTV Staying Alive Foundation and Dallas Contemporary. Joyce and Kenny will serve as co-chairmen.
Guests — including Anna Sophia van Zweden, Joanne Teichman, Brian Bolke, Christen and Derek Wilson, Shelby Wagner, and Peter Doroshenko — are always quick to show up in support of this unique exhibition and auction of original works by a selection of the world's foremost artists, photographers and sculptors. Past artists have included Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Marc Quinn, Michael Craig Martin, Juergen Teller, Matt Collishaw and Ryan Gander.
RE:DEFINE differentiates itself through its tightly curated roster of artists and works, as well as a commitment to promote fine art beyond niche collectors to a broader worldwide audience. The groups aims to complete its mission through an annual public installation commission and a free public exhibition of donated works in advance of the gala auction event.
Over the past two years, RE:DEFINE events have raised more than $1.7 million in Dallas for the fight against HIV/AIDS. One hundred percent of the funds were donated to the MTV Staying Alive Foundation, which supports innovative youth-led HIV-prevention projects around the world and train the young leaders of tomorrow.
"We are truly honored to be the chairs for RE:DEFINE in 2014 and to announce the new partnership between the Goss-Michael Foundation, Dallas Contemporary and MTV Staying Alive Foundation," said the co-chairmen. "This collaboration is a fantastic effort with great potential to underwrite the brilliant enterprise of young people around the world and the art and education programs locally."
