Shop indie at the return of downtown Dallas' cool holiday pop-up

The traditional gift for a fifth anniversary is wood, and you're certain to find some amazing wood crafts when Unbranded returns for its fifth year.

The holiday pop-up shop located in downtown Dallas provides free retail space to a curated group of designers, artists, and entrepreneurs, with the lineup rotating during each of its three weeks. It has everything from jewelry, purses, and leather goods to clothing, artwork, and children's gifts.

Here's what you need to know to get your independent shop on:

The dates and times
This unique shop is open for business Thursday through Saturday from December 5-21. You can drop by and browse anytime between noon and 9 pm.

The location
Unbranded returns to the historic Dallas Power & Light Building at 1508 Commerce St.

Who will be there
Week one (December 5-7) will host such brands as AKA Dwelling, Aqua Aura, Bel Nouvo Beauty, Blue Surfer Girl, Bullzerk, By Way of Dallas, Hannah Amazon Baby Wear, and floral arrangements by Elia De Leòn, among others.

Week two (December 12-14) brings Big Heart Candle Company, Cupcake Lodge, GypsyHouse Mobile Boutique, Maya X Kiwi, Once Kids, Postcode, and Zingy Boutique, to name a few.

The final week (December 19-21) welcomes Modgeo Designs, Fauxtanicals, Local Menace, Lonely Coyote, Pickney Pocket, Rude Girl Treats, Thistle + Ore, Viv Jordan Studio, and many more.

What else to do
Downtown Dallas, Inc. is partnering with the future tenant of the space, Pegasus City Brewery, to provide complimentary beer plus a first look at what the space will become in 2020. You'll also find a complimentary gift-wrapping lounge, super-fast internet connectivity provided by AT&T Internet and AT&T Business Wi-Fi, coffee from Flying Horse Cafe, guest bartenders and DJs, crafty workshops, and more.

Getting there
Look for the dedicated Efrog cart that will be providing free rides to and from Unbranded within the downtown area.

"We can't wait to host Unbranded again," says Shalissa Perry, CMO of Downtown Dallas, Inc. "It's been a thrill to watch vendors graduate from Unbranded participants to full-scale retailers and brands in Dallas and beyond."

The TJ Maxx of outdoor gear stores Sierra to make DFW debut in Allen

A new store with brand name active and outdoor gear at low prices is coming to Dallas: Sierra, which is sort of like the TJ Maxx version of an outdoor equipment store, will open a location at The Village at Allen, at 170 E. Stacy Rd. #2030.

This is only the second location for Sierra, following its recent Texas debut in San Antonio. According to a release, it'll open on Saturday, October 18 with a grand opening celebration starting at 8 am, including DJ, giveaways, and a hidden tag activity offering a chance to win a Sierra gift card.

Sierra is the go-to destination for value on top active and outdoor brands, with savings of up to 20–60 percent less than department and specialty store prices. They sell gear for every outdoor pursuit, whether it’s a leisurely neighborhood walk, cycling along The Allen Bike Trail, or golfing at Watters Creek.

The company was founded in 1986 and is part of The TJX Companies, Inc., the leading off-price retailer of apparel and home fashions in the U.S. and worldwide, whose subsidiaries include T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Winners, and TK Maxx.

There are currently 138 Sierra stores selling apparel, footwear, and gear for the whole family. Some of the current finds include GoreTex jackets, Perrin hiking boots, Adidas duffel bags, Sherpa sweaters, North Face ski pants, Frye knee-high harness boots, Free People denim jackets, Pendleton rain boots, Carhartt beanies, and more.
