Host Committee Perks
Sky-high Dallas house party builds momentum for important first fundraiser
Charitable Dallasites got a heck of a view at a host committee reception for the Aging Mind Foundation, held at Laree Hulshoff and Ben Fischer’s Museum Tower home. The event was a precursor to the upcoming fundraiser “Living with Bob: A Salute to Robert A. Wilson,” set for February 21, 2015.
Sharing in the hosting duties were Barbara Daseke and Barbara Buzzell, co-chairs alongside Hulshoff. Honorary chair Bill Booziotis also helped welcome guests, including host committee members Jo Marie Lilly, Chela Abdallah, Jennifer and Coley Clark, John Clutts and Sami Arslanlar, Claire and Dwight Emanuelson, Jannah Hodges, Amy and Howard Klion, Karen Lussier, Capera Ryan, Debbie Ryan, Lisa Shardon, and Julie Tregoning.
When Fischer had the floor, he shared the vision for the inaugural fundraiser, which will honor Bob Wilson, a former chief executive at KERA, and his leadership and notable accomplishments in Dallas. His son, award-winning actor Owen Wilson, is scheduled to make an appearance.
The event also will raise awareness for the foundation’s mission to address and support critical issues unique to the aging mind, including research, treatment, education and advocacy.
“There is much-needed research to be done regarding the challenges of the aging mind,” Hulshoff said. “Our society is rapidly aging, with increasing numbers of the population in their seventh decade or later. The need to understand how and why the mind ages and how this process can be halted or slowed has never been more urgent.”
Presenting sponsor The Joule will host the affair, in the Praetorian and Mosaic ballrooms. The evening will conclude on the Joule Terrace, with dancing and desserts. And we know from personal experience how fabulous a soiree on the terrace can be.
Sponsorships for “Living with Bob: A Salute to Robert A. Wilson,” as well as tables for the event, are available online. Tables and sponsorship levels range from $6,000 to $50,000. Individual tickets are also available for $650.
The beneficiary is the Center for Vital Longevity (CVL), which is dedicated to studying the aging mind and determining new ways to maintain cognitive health. Using a range of brain-imaging techniques, CVL scientists are making great progress in understanding memory, cognitive aging and risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease.
